Anti-Piracy is more annoying although I don't burn CDs so it really doesn't affect me. Parental Advisory is way cooler. I'd rather have a CD with that sticker on it than not. Clean versions of albums are not cool.

As for which is uglier, the Piracy one kinda looks like some sort of medal--very symmetrical with patriotic colors. The Advisory one is just black and white text. I don't think much thought went into the design of that one except in purposely making it look ugly and stand out from the normal album art so consumers can see it.

clarification edit

the parental advisory sticker is SO early nineties looking. half the albums that came out in 1990-92 had so much gaudy black and white op-art looking crap on the cover, you could hardly even notice the advisory sticker.

I agree with everything said. I don't burn CDs...I'd much rather have the CD than burn a possibly inferor copy with no liner notes, etc.

i typically only burn songs from CDs when i make compilation discs for friends. if that's piracy, then shiver me damn timbers, shit.

the anti-piracy label's butt-ugly. you can't do anything with it...as for the parental advisory sticker, there's so many ways to rework it:

i was recently told that you're permitted TWO legal burns of a CD. everything after that you should consider piracy. i don't know if that's true or not.

The one album I've burned multiple copies of is Goldfrapp's 'Supernature' only because it won't be released in the states until March and I really want people to hear it. If that CD was protected, I probably would have reached my limit by now. boxed

The only other CDs I burn are mash-up comps that I collect from the Internet.

And don't forget this one (I stole from someone here):

"I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

I wonder if the dreaded RIAA have installed a chip into Cd's now-a-days that count the number of burns? Freaking greedy bastards!!!

No, that's not true. Legality has to do with
a)country you live in
b)whether you break or bypass protection to make the copy
c)how the copy is used.

In the USA, generally, Fair Use allows you to copy cds you own when those copies are for your own normal, personal use - there is no specified number of copies making it legal or illegal. However the DMCA says bypassing or breaking copy protection is illegal, which technically nullifies Fair Use.

Sony recalled cds with one type of copy protection (they use more than one type). My understanding is that the recalled protection (XCP aka Rootkit) allowed for three supposedly-uncopyable copies and prevented easy loading into iTunes/iPod.

I don't even notice the Parental Advisory label anymore. I'm surprised album covers even use it anymore.

I really resent "Copy Controlled" CDs... Makes it hard for me to even rip tracks for my own personal mix cds, or play it on certain disc drives. How dare they!
