Sorry, lost all respect for Kirk! So what he watches porn, who the hell hasn't? His whole confessional begs the question...what the hell did you do while getting your porn on, that made it necessary for you to go on national tv and confess?
Don't get me wrong, I do know that confession is good for the soul, but I have to question WHY this confessional needed to be broadcast worldwide!!

I didn't see the show, and I've never been a fan of Kirk -- and I don't think this'll make me one. I just don't find him that interesting.
But I have much respect for him for going public with this. Effective ministry entails a certain human empathy and vulnerability, and no one who is perfect -- as some believers try to paint themselves -- could possibly have it. Bless him. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Honestly, y'all. Kirk is successful enough without having to dredge that up to sell some more CDs. Movie soundtracks, guest songs on other artists' albums, guest hosting shows, ministering at megachurches. Kirk needs an Oprah confessional to be successful like Oprah needs to buy a Pontiac G6 on credit.

Ah, but so many Christians demonize anything to do with sex, to the point that they almost find those things unforgivable. It SHOULDN'T be this way, but it often is. A man can destroy his life, and that of his family, with drugs and alcohol, and when he finally gets rehabilitated it's all good. If he does the same thing with sex, then they place a scarlet letter on him and run him out of town. I still admire him for doing this. It could destroy his reputation, but he is choosing to put it out there for other's to learn from. I've never really been a fan of his, but I think he's got guts. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

It's a widespread problem within the Church and it's obvious he feels called to address it as a ministry. My perspective is a little different than the folks who say he's in it for the record sales, because I saw Kirk minister at my church's youth summit a few months ago. He has a heart for helping people -- especially young people -- be free of the things that would hinder them from walking in their God-given destinies. Does he want to continue to be successful in the entertainment arena? Absolutely. Could there be some residual effect from his Oprah appearance. Of course. Millions of authors want an Oprah endorsement. A good friend of mine wants to appear on Oprah, so she can launch him in his respective field. But, again, I don't think the material benefit is Kirk's chief concern. And, I just heard about Kirk's porn addiction a few months ago -- old news or not.
