What You Won't Do For Love First let me say that this is one of the coolest POP songs of the 70s.
I kind of learned how to play this tune on the stage one night. So when I found out I might have to play this piece at a gig this past Saturday, figured i'd actually learn the proper chord voicings. Remembered that someone had given me a copy of his... ...Timeline: The Anthology - Part 1 Immediately got pissed when I looked at the tracklist and saw... What You Won't Do For Love (New 20th Anniversary Version) Thought to myself, "Here we go with some loser's vomitorious REMIX nightmare". That's until I listened to it... http://s35.yousendit.com/...TXE58YS3OM ...If you haven't heard it, check it out. Really nice rearrangement. Killer synth basslines. Btw... ...Time & Again: The Anthology - Part II has the original arrangement. *Extra Credit - Compare the 2 arrangements. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 [Edited 11/22/05 9:00am] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Yeah. That was a shock on par with the end of the Sixth Sense.

It`s a good song, but i prefer Phyllis Hymans` version. Natalie Cole and Peabo Bryson recorded it as a duet, and they did a good job

I used to love watching my dad perform this song.
He'd have his hat, suit and sunglasses, just pimpin' the stage. (My dad is italian, so that always got the audience's attention )

Yeah. That was a shock on par with the end of the Sixth Sense. I was shocked myself. Excellent song. My mother has a lot of his stuff; I need to get some from her. The Normal Whores Club

I love this song. Even after the horrible memory of seeing Montel Williams singing it. Andy is a four letter word.

Ok...Grrr...I'm trying to be open-minded but I'm completely impartial to the original. When I first got the 1st Anthology, I played maybe 1 min of that version, and it has been on permanent skip since then. I'm listening to it now, and it just doesn't hit me like the original. When he performed the song at the Jazz Festival this year, it was the orig. It's such a classic, that I thought updating was unecessary. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

I wonder why his song Coming Down for Love doesn't get the play that WYWDFL does? I like that song much better. IMO, WYWDFL is good but played to death, as if it's the only thing he's ever done. I by no means am an expert of Bobby's work but I'm pretty sure it's much deeper than that.
p.s..... the new arrangement sounds very nice, good enough to have been released today as if it was a new song, more than qualifying for the adult contemporary playlist. Jeux Sans Frontiers

that song is beautiful. i heard it on the radio the other day and it made me smile . I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Yeah, this is one of those songs that never gets old. I always blast it when it's on the radio! Matter of fact, I have this on the red vinyl heart-shaped single. It has to be a collectors' item by now.

Sounds almost like it could be a cleaned up recording of a live version. Thanks for this, friend! Jamie Foxx worked a bit of this song into one of his God-awful new songs.

It sounds like he substituted digital keyboards for many of the original's analog instruments (horns, bass, etc). I like it though. Now i'm curious to hear what Jamie Foxx has done to it. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I don't know if it's on the album version or if he just added that special just for Oprah yesterday. At any rate, you can stream the song (w/out the WYWDfL bit) here: http://www.contactmusic.c...xx21x11x05
