Thomas McClary from the commodores -one of the most underrated guitar players ever how come no one ever mentions Thomas McClary .
yes he is the one who played famous lead guitar on easy like a sunday morning. from his funky staccato rhythmic fills on guitar right to very tasteful leads he definetly is one of the best funk guitar players ever. it's a shame he is forgotten now.

Yeah he was hip. His tremelo solo in "Three Times A Lady" was cool. "Slippery When Wet" had some cool funk rock licks too. He always seemed to play what was right for the song. He also put out a solo LP back in 1985 but it went nowhere.

I'm just partial, but I think that the Commodores' sound are basically four guys. If you want the rhythm part of the Commodores, that was a combination of Ronald LaPread, the bass player, Walter Orange, the drummer, that's number one. Thomas McClary, the guitar player, which is all that "Slippery When Wet Stuff". Nobody else could play that guitar part like Thomas McClary, only because he didn't play it like a guitar, he played it like an ukulele! He could only play five strings, so, he just played a different kind of style. All that stuff you that you hear on "Easy", that's Tommy, that's just how he played. So, between Milan Williams, the keyboard
