from a personal stand point.

i don't like the inclusion of the Something To Remember tracks because they are part of a separate era.

You mean on "Bedtime Stories"?

Yeah, I'd thought of that. But my point in making these is to cover as much territory as possible. I like to put all of the non-album material with whichever project it fits with. I'm sure I'll make a single-disc Evita, but those Something to Remember tracks definitely don't fit with that. And there's so few of them, that they don't take up too much room. Plus, sonically, aesthetically and lyrically, they fit right in with Bedtime Stories. They seem like a perfect extension of that work to me. Try listening to 'em together...you'll like it. wink

i have... i have my playlist that plays all of Madonna's tracks in order of release... but the elitist fan in me says they don't belong on Bedtime Stories... differnt producers and writers.

Where would you put 'em? Don't you think they'd sound good mixed in where I put 'em though?

What about "Justify My Love" and "Rescue Me"? Do you think they'd sound horribly out of place on "Erotica"?

they fit the theme. yes... Rescue Me and Justify My Love are the transition songs to Erotica. but might be a bit too polished sounding to go on Erotica.

I'll Remember fits with Bedtime Stories because it has Madonna in fine form with Patrick Leonnard. and i'm sure Madge and him did some demos for the album and so he got the feel for the album.

But You'll See, I Want You, Once More Chance are almost an EP. similar to the Who's That Girl Tracks. Where they fit the tone of the pervious album but was Madonna offering her stop loss songs to the Label as she readied her next project and took time off to do other things.

"Justify My Love" doesn't sound too polished to me.

And I guess cuz "Bedtime Stories" has so many producers and writers already, throwing David Foster and Massive Attack into the mix, doesnt' hurt anything. For me anyway. And with "True Blue", I'm sure I'll be adding the "Who's That Girl?" tracks and "Spotlight" to that. I have this thing about having to fill up a disc to maximum capacity. I like things to be COMPLETE and make sense.

i'd like your the 1st pressing of that please batting eyes

except with "Veras" on in instead of "You'll See". giggle i'd use the "Bedtime Story" remix used in the re-invention tour (j.v. remix if i remember correctly) as a bonus if there was room. along with a dvd set to accompany the album. the photos from this are beautiful, and show the softer side of Madonna that people sometimes fail to remember. i think the ones you chose are PERFECT for the covers. love i've used the back cover as an avatar.i wish "Freedom" was a bit longer song. i even think "Rain" would be a nice edition to this album.

Thanks you. biggrin

Actually, this disc is pretty full at about 79 minutes. I'll be making 2nd discs for most eras that cover all the important remixes.

I'll keep updating this thread as I finish each one.

lol i wish i could show you the ones i've made over the last couple of years.

anyway... again. brilliant job?
what about "Waiting" (remix with Everlast) ? hmmm what do you think of that version...or is that the one you used? not sure if i would've added "This Used To Be My Playground" on this version though. i don't think it fits thematically with the album. if so...i'd have it end out the set just like you did. then again, i do like "Secret Garden" as the final track. God how i LOVE that song.
Cheek even dedicated it to me. touched

oh yeah...i'd like a copy of this one too. biggrin you can mail it to me with the "Bedtime Stories" and Bowie set... whistling

Post yours! Please. I didn't want to be the only one sharing my results. I wanna see everyone's ideas.

The "Waiting" remix I don't remember very well. I'm kinda rusty with her remixes in general. But I plan on making remix discs for both of these eras. One for '90-'93 and one for '94/'95. I'll have to brush up on my singles first though.

I like "This Used to Be My Playground" on here a lot. It's a nice closing statement. There seems to be a theme of lost innocence and remembering where you came from on this album. "Goodbye to Innocence" and "This Used to Be My Playground" seem to be mourning the past. "Secret Garden" and "Deeper and Deeper" are about reclaiming that. "Playground" is full of regret about a place from her past that made her feel safe and at peace and "Secret Garden" has come to terms with that loss and has found the peace within. I love those 2 songs back to back. And "Secret Garden" has totally been my mantra lately. biggrin

I'll see what I can do about the CHICO care package. wink

instead of theme...i meant musically different. though i agree as far as 'lost innocence' storylines. it just feels more of a longing/lullaby song to me. maybe even something for "Bedtime Stories" than "Erotica".

hmmm...that's why i don;t think it sits to well in this set. because i don't get the sense of 'regret' while listening to "Erotica"... absolutely, no, regrets. lol but more of understanding and putting forth what she desires.

and i hear "Playground" as more of a reflection of the past. and something about her "childhood dream" lyrics and "erotica"...???? lol
