OK Let's talk Diana Ross

I am not the biggest fan but I am curious to know what she is doing. Is she recording or is that part of her life over? Besides the reissues, what was her last studio cd (was it in the 90's)?

I can't belive that when I googled her name, a couple fan sites popped up but not an OFFICIAL site. Does she not have one? Or did I just miss it? Does anyone even care?

Did Motown stars not even make it into the new century? With no Top, Temps, Smokey, Diana Ross, and Michael & Stevie taking such gaps between new music, it all kinda depressing.

Since the drunk driving charge, does anyone want to hear from her or is she tainted? Maybe she's happy doing nothing but chillin. Charity single, talk show appearance, duets, awards dinner or something?

Who's got info?

Her last album was 1999's Every Day is a New Day, and it was, at best, average. She also remade yet another Disney song on that one with her version of He Lives in You from The Lion King. One the whole the album was just generic dance music and some bland ballads. I don't know that she has an official site, but it wouldn't shock me if she doesn't.

Couldn't she hook up with a new producer? Go the Rod Stewart route, or Bette Midler and do Songs of ...., or duets?

When it comes to Diana Ross, i have to say i have very mixed feelings.
She`s had one of longest and most successful careers. I like her 60s and 70s music, because she worked with a lot of talented songwriters, was willing to take chances, and the results were good. Just look at the number of hits, and the fact that she was Oscar-nominated for lady sings the blues. (she should have won)
On the other hand, i believe she is a little overrated. I think her success was a result of her relationship with the head of Motown, Berry Gordy. She got the best material, which it was all about. This, combined with her looks, made her a big star, and when you get that big, it`s like a snowball. The best songwriters see that you`re very commercial, and therefore you get more and more good songs, and with that comes new fans, and more fame.

I truly believe that someone like Gladys Knight could have been just as big if she recorded the songs instead.

She's among my favorite pop/R&B artists (especially during the Supremes years).. although I don't know what to make of her as a person. Word (and even footage: see uncut Motown 25th) has it that's she's bitchy, but other, more hardcore Diana fans will try to convince you otherwise.

I think she is very egoistical and self-absorbed, which probably have helped her to get where she is today. You might say that it`s just her ambition and drive, but i think there`s a difference between wanting something, and work hard for it, as apose to getting it on the expense of others. Diana Ross seems to be very afraid to let the public see this side of her, so i guess when the "call her miss Ross" biography hit the stores, she wasn`t pleased

I love Miss Ross!! I live near Detroit and most people that know me say I look like I could be her illegitimate daughter, so I maybe I'm a little bias, but I think she's great! She took the world by storm and did it HER way! You just gotta admire her for that!

She's been often seen as a down right BITCH, but most powerful women are! All the Beyonce's and Ciara's out there shaking their asses on MTV and BET owe a debt of gratitude to this dynamic lady who paved the way for them to be where they are today.

I think it's high time Miss Ross gets the props that she's due!!

Do you know, where you're going to? wink

{Stupid Beyonce, get a real name! edit}

Well i turned on the TV yesterday to be greeted by the horrific sight of her and Westlife singing her "When You Tell Me That You Love Me". Its being released as a single for Xmas. Yes she did look like a bad transvestite. Her voice sounded deeper too.
