And Andre 3000 would gladly beat Lenny with his own keyboard for a shot at the role. I agree...I give the nod to Wood Harris..He had the voice mannerisms down and Jimi's stage presence...He should be the one playing Jimi in the silver screen version... [Edited 11/29/05 15:55pm] | |

Orlando Jones could do it as far as the acting goes. [Edited 11/29/05 17:08pm] | |

I like Lenny's music, but there is no way he could pull this off | |

Would've liked to see Andre 3000 handle that role.
But, really, what new element would be brought to the Hendrix film? The 1970s saw a fair number of documentaries, and a biopic was released just a few years ago. What's the point of another? Something tells me this would be more about Lenny than about Jimi. Which would stink. | |

call me crazy, but I still want to see Andre3000 take that role
He can act,he was really good in "Four Brothers". If Lenny gets this role,he'll just let it go to his head (lol),convincing himself that he really is the next Jimi Hendrix. | |

lenny is the wrong choice for it to be convincing at all they should give the part to an unknown | |

SPYZFAN1 said: There was a movie out back in the early 90's called "Behind The Doors" which was a fictional story about Jimi, Janis, and Jim. The actor (Gregory Alan Jackson) looked JUST LIKE Jimi. He would have been perfect. He also played left handed. There was also another cat named Jack Hammer (yes that's his real name) who was a friend of Jimi's and looked exactly like him. He was supposed to play Jimi in 1984's "The Electric God" but the movie was cancelled.
After all this time, I don't think I even want to see a movie on Jimi.Jimi's aura and vibe is just way too amazing to try and even capture on film. And I don't think we'll see Lenny playing him anytime soon....not if Janie can help it. Howdy, Just a few minor corrections to the above post. The Actual title of the film mentioned is "Down On Us" (1984). "Beyond The Doors" was the title used for the video realease and it's been long out of print. I did a little net research on the movie a few months back while I was trying to track down a copy. I remember Siskle & Ebert giving the film a really bad review ages ago...I still think their show was called "Sneak Previews" back then. Anyhow, the film entertains a conspiracy theory that the U.S. goverment murderd Hendrix, Morrison & Jolpin. Btw the actor who played Jimi was Gregory Allen Chatman. I haven't been able to find any other film credits for him either. As far as the whole Lenny as Jimi thing....for everyones sake...let's hope not. A talented unknown would probably be the best bet. IMOHO. -KSTRAT- | |

kstrat..Thanks for the corrections. (I dig your name by the way..that's my favorite guitar). I'm just glad someone else has heard of this movie cuz' a lot of people aren't hip to it. I saw Kurt Loder on MTV talk about the film but his reviews weren't too kind. | |

Your very welcome! Yeah, I have a major strat jones. I have only one "real" strat though, a realy nice grafitti(sp) yellow Strat-Plus Deluxe that I bought new about 15 years ago. The frets need to be dressed but otherwise still a cool guitar. Most of my other guitars are strat-styled. I find that body type to be the most comfortable. If I'm able to track down a copy of the flick I'll be sure to pass it along. BTW, did you get the 24-7 Spyz dvd that they put out a few months ago? I was thinking about grabbing a copy if it's still available while I have a few extra bucks. -kstrat- | |

Strat Deluxe??..Nice!!..Yeah I have a Strat jones too. I think I have 8 or 9 dressed up with H/S/H Seymour Duncans. I have some Gibby L.P.s, a Prince clone Tele, and some others but the Strat always feels like home (lol).
Yes I have the DVD and it's incredible. 2 and 1/2 hours of some cool footage.Yeah let me know if you ever find that flick cuz' I've been looking on E(vil)bay and I can't find it. If I find I'll let you know. Thanx! | |

Right now I've got a Korean strat that I modified with a seymour duncan hot rails bridge pickup for a heavier lead sound. I had an Ernie Ball Musicman Axis SuperSport (among others), which was awesome for lead, but sucked when I wanted some funky, Prince/Nile Rodgers chicken scratch rhythm. With my strat, I have the best of both worlds My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth | |

Prince would have to do guitar overdubs. Lenny admits to being a bad guitarist. He does shake his ass and fling the guitar around good, though. All you others say Hell Yea!! | |

----- Your right it was horrible and so was Wood Harris. The best thing to do is to go with an unknown person. NO one is going see Lenny has Jimi. Too true, Wood Harris as Jimi was a joke. And if I remember correctly the last time someone tried to get a biopic of Jimi going his estate blocked it. Prince is too short to play Jimi Lenny is too alternately plump/muscular to play him. Jimi was thin as a rail. To the poster further up about Jimi's height, he was 5'11 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later. -Miles Davis- | |
