The Jimi Hendrix Experience Box Set Ok, you guys can say that I'm more of an experienced (not so hardcore) Hendrix fan, but I was thinking of buying this boxset as a little Christmas gift for myself. I do have Are You Experienced, Axis: As Bold As Love, Electric Ladyland, Voodoo Child: The Jimi Hendrix Collection, Band Of Gypsys, Live At Woodstock (which is my fave Hendrix live recording), Live At Fillmore East, and First Rays Of The New Rising Sun. I heard from one of my friends, which is a big Hendrix fan, that the boxset that was released back 2000 should be my next Jimi purchase. She told me that the collection had lots of alternate, live, and rare material and the studio jams make the boxset a must have. I just wanted to know if I'm ready for the collection yet or should I wait and why. Can someone please have help me? [Edited 11/27/05 1:34am] Check me out and add me on:

HMMMMM. The baggies rehearsal sessions would be a better buy IMHO. You can get it from the official Hendrix site. It is the band of Gypsies rehearsing for the Fillmore East gigs. It is an absolute GEM. Or maybe the BBC sessions, which is PURE fun. Hearing Jimi doing Day Tripper and little Miss Lover is really cool. I do not think the box set is really a crucial buy unless you are a HARDCORE. It does not really cover new ground, preaches to the converted.

What a surprise...I'm listening to Disc 4 right now as I type this..Jimi's birthday is today. The box set is cool. I usually listen to it on the anniversary of his birth or death. Lot's of unreleased jams and cool instrumentals. It's worth the bucks. The B.O.G rehearsals are great and so is the out of print box set "Lifelines". The L.A. Forum concert on there is the BEST live Hendrix concert I've ever heard.

there is an instrumental version of Little Wing I love Little Wing! What does the instrumental sound like on the box set? u know how u get that lump in ur throat b4 u cry... from the begining 2 the end. that song is very special 2 me. someone i love dearly sent me the lyrics and calls me little wing and ever since that day i've often had people say i 'am' little wing. i don't know if that is necessarily a good thing lol but it's sweet 2 me the first time u hear it may i suggest u close ur eyes and just feel it... it really is gorgeous. matter of fact, pm me [Edited 11/29/05 18:33pm]
