CinisterCee said: I bought this since it's the era I'm trying to learn most about, even though I have the albums it is made up of.
from all music guide: Instead of playing it straight, the 20-track set offers both the predictable classics — "The Jean Genie," "Space Oddity," "Starman," "Drive-In Saturday," "Ziggy Stardust," "Suffragette City," "Changes," "Sorrow," "The Man Who Sold the World" — and relative obscurities, like the B-side "Velvet Goldmine," Bowie's version of "All the Young Dudes," and alternate takes of "John, I'm Only Dancing" and "The Prettiest Star." There are also album tracks like "Oh! You Pretty Things" and "Life on Mars" that have become classics, making The Best of David Bowie 1969/1974 an impressive, reasonably thorough overview of Bowie's glam years. How do you like it? I still think it's the best comp he's got out.

I've only listened to this a few times so far, but I instantly fell in love with it. I know it's going to take me a long time to assimilate everything on there, but I can tell that I'll be returning to it a lot within the next year. I can easily see it ending up my favorite Kate album. I'm delighted that you like it, man. It's a very beautiful piece of work.

It's funny cuz everyone thought that there was no way it could live up to all the expectations after all these years, but I think all those people are eating their words now that they've heard it. It really couldn't be better, could it?

Well, some would say I'm biased but I think it's a bloody marvellous album. Any stand out tracks for you yet?

I'm not super-familiar with it all yet. But "Joanni" and especially "A Coral Room" are kicking my ass. I particularly love the end of Joanni where she does that muppet grunting. A Coral Room may well be my fave. Stunning song. I'm liking Mrs. Bartolozzi a lot, too. And Sunset.

Me too! When that bass locks in I'm in total heaven. Can you see this becoming your favorite Kate album?

Me too! When that bass locks in I'm in total heaven. Can you see this becoming your favorite Kate album? I dunno. To be fair I think it's a little too early to say. Maybe it's best to wait until the novelty of it being a new album has worn off. And I think I'm always gonna be stuck on Hounds Of Love. There's just something about that record... However, if Aerial doesn't become my fave then it's likely gonna be in my top three of hers. I'm very impressed with it. Altho' it's too damn quiet!
