I can't get ABBA's "Dancing Queen" out of my head

Can I be saved or is there no hope for me? I don't usually sing 30 year old songs all day long but lately I just can't get this little gem out of my head. This song is brilliant!

Maybe if I get it stuck in your heads I can get it out of mine.

Take this, Org! Try to resist:

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen

Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen

You're a teaser, you turn 'em on
Leave them burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen

Dig in the Dancing Queen
Dig in the Dancing Queen
Dig in the Dancing Queen
All good things they say never last...

I didn't know that was the lyric.

It's amazing how many songs I never learn fully.

I only know the complete words for 5% of the songs I like. The rest I wing like a mother but I work it out.

Sadly I can relate too well to that show. I used to know all the words until I got old and had kids. I know all the words to the Wiggles songs now.

Personally it flashes me back to my disco days...when I was 3. The particular disco I went to didn't card so it was all good.

Hell yeah. I hear this song and I think Muriels Wedding, my favourite feel good film. I dont give a shit how uncool Abba are, they've written the fucking bible on pop music.

Am I the only one who hears "you can die" in the second version of the chorus and onward?

In the first I heard jive, but then I hear "you can DIE having the time of your life."

Which is true and has always made the song especially poignant to me. Especially then with the fast music, drugs, etc.

I've always loved this song because I felt it was both happy and melacholy due to the die reference. ... like Sheryl Crow's leaving las vegas ...the good times will kill you.

YOu definitely do not hear the v sound at the end of the word.
