I think those 5 songs seem like the most likely batch of hits she's had on one album since at least "Bedtime Stories" and probably as far back as "Like a Prayer". Like I said, I know dance isn't a thriving genre in the pop market. But I think those 5 songs are so poppy, hook-heavy and easy to get into, that I'll be shocked if they don't hit big. I have a very pop ear and I don't hear a single. But, again, I'd love to be proven wrong. i trust Madonna's pop ear more than yours though. She has made her living off of it for 23 years. Plus Die Another Day not a pop song but a top 10 hit. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

I have no idea what you guys are talking about but tell me how many 47 year old women even manage to crack the American billboard chart in a hip hop infested business.
Please, give credit where credit is due. And HU is bound to crack the top 10 this week, as it's been at the top of the itunes chart all week. Radio is hardly supporting the effort, it's the work of the sales that is pushing this one up the chart. Madonna has selling power that others don't have, and therefore you will most likely see most of her singles on this project in the top ten thanks to itunes.

Sales should be the driving force behind charts. It says what folks actually care about as opposed to what radio and television is cramming down our throats. I for one am really pleased with the effect iTunes is having on the industry. Since singles are practically a dead format, digital downloads are the next best thing. And I'm glad they're counting for something.

Ah, but it failed her on AL, did it not? Some artists reach a point where they become out-of-touch with the record-buying public and/or their lyrical concerns become too complex for the majority of that demographic (which is heavily weighted with very young people). Plus Die Another Day not a pop song but a top 10 hit.
Did that really go Top 10 on Billboard? If it did, I am shocked and can only chalk it up to the tie-in with the Bond flick. But more power to her.

Madonna was no where to be seen after American Life came out America abdonded her. She went to Europe and reigned in the charts. Sex was shoot after A League of Their Own... she had to drop muscle mass and gain some fat to look like she belonged in that era... she did the same thing for I'm Breathless. By the time she went on the road for The Girlie Show in 93 she was back to the muscled Madonna we know. If she wants to impress dance music critics and people who spend a lot of time in hipster nightclubs, this is the record to make. If she wants to have a mainstream hit, I don't think this is the way to go about it. But, who knows? Maybe she's more concerned with her artistic legacy these days. the irony is that this is not what the us hipster nightclubs want to hear. i think this is a great album for euro ears but its already passe here in the states. Actually, this was a pretty impressive first week of album sales for Madonna, especially considering that she is an older artist, hip-hop has been ruling the charts for quite some time, and plus the fact that this is a very Euro-sounding dance record. Eurodance may have its place in the big dance clubs here in the USA (mostly on the coasts), but it has such a weak following elsewhere in the States. Nevertheless, Madonna probably sold a lot of units on her name and reputation alone, which was well deserved, and if it gets more Americans to listen to Eurodance music, then its good.
As for whether there are any poppy, radio-friendly tracks on this album, remember that Ray Of Light didn't exactly have any radio-friendly songs on the album, yet it was one of her biggest selling albums ever. Actually, her first single from that album, "Frozen," was considered to be much darker then any music she had done up to that point.
