TOM JONES !

I think Tom Jones did great version of "Kiss!"

His voice is so powerful! He's been around for years and he still sings as well as he did 30 years ago!

Kudos to Tom Jones!

FYI:

Tom Jones also shares a birthdate of June 7th.
Kinda freaky if you ask me, like all the strange coincidences between the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy...

Actually, he did one CD, titled Reload, and it's nothing but covers of classic rock stuff, and I actually enjoy it. Plus he has some great special guests, like the BareNakedLadies (BNL) on Little Green Bag.

Well, it has it's moments.

But I don't like his cover of Kiss.

Don't mess w/Tom Jones! He's the shit! I've only had crushes on 2 singers. Tom Jones when I was 2-3 years old and Prince since I was 15. (I was a little freaked to learn they share the same birthday)

Didn't care for the "Kiss" cover as Prince's version is perfect as it is, however, "What's New Pussycat?" always makes me smile.

"Back in the day..." Tom Jones use to wear real tight slacks and white ruffle shirts and he wore them quite well!

So don't mess w/Tom Jones! smile

He has his own songs, too!

I was listening to the radio today and a song called "She's a Lady" was playing and the DJ said "A little Tom Jones for your drive time!"

Wow, what a voice that guy has!

I can't stand Tom Jones, his version (with The Art Of Noise) is awful, listen to Roberta Black's "Killing me softly" & then TJ destroying this, it makes me wanna vomit.

Tom Jones is Cool. My Mom used to watch him all of the time and had a thing for him. I find it weird he has the same birthday as Prince's. Women used to throw Underwear at him just like they did for Prince. He was a real Ladies Man. I think he was one of the first Swingers. I love his version of Prince's song Kiss with the Art Of Noise.

Tom Jones is solid as a singer, he really gets into it when he sings.. who knew a Welshman could have a soulful voice like that?

I like some of his covers; his cover of "kiss" was alright. I saw him do a tv show of covers, & on that show he did a version of "Purple Rain" which was surprisingly good.

What I admire about TJ back in his heyday of the late 60s/early 70s was the way he drove women crazy.. he wore those tight, 1-piece outfits that made him look
REALLY
well-hung..
no wonder women threw panties & bras & stockings onto the stage!

His album "reload" can grow on you, if you listen to it enough..
1 song from that album, "Sex Bomb" was VERY popular in France during the summer of 2000.. I'm surprised that song didn't do much in the US..

anyway, you could do worse than Tom Jones..
(can you say.. Michael Bolton?)
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I confess that own a 12" promo single of Tom Jones and the Cardigans covering "Burning Down the House." I first heard it during a local radio station's annual "Request-a-Thon" for charity, where they'll play virtually anything in exchange for a donation. (This is a Top 40 station, and during this special event, they were playing everything from classic Santana to country to Barry Manilow.) Apparently the song had some commercial success in Europe, but I'd never heard it here in the States.
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.
