Your top 5 albums of the week!

So what 5 albums have been in heavy rotation in your life this week?

I tend to listen to an album (or an artist) over and over again until I have to put it away for a while. lol

These are mine for this week, that I will be getting sick of very soon....

Pulp - We Love Life

Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow (I know I just said last week that I only like about 2 of their songs, but apparently that's not true because this is a great album biggrin )

The Animals - Winds of Change/The Twain Shall Meet

Booker T. and the M.G.s - Green Onions

Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak

Now you. nod

Hey how is that Goldfrapp album anyway? I was going to start a thread asking about it, because I just discovered them about a week ago. lol I know there was a thread about them a while back, but I didn't pay attention to it.

OK, those are in my car CD changer right now, so they get heavy rotation

Teena Marie - It Must be Magic
bought the CD recently to replace the old vinyl, with some nice bonus tracks added

Thicke - A Beautiful world:
that one has been in my car since well over a year, still one of the best albums I heard in this millenium

EWF - Illumination
good album, no doubt, but I'm still in the process of getting into this deeper

Leela James - A Change is gonna come
bought this one just last week and what I heard so far I relly enjoyed.

Jamiroquai - Emergency on planet Earth
I was at their concert just a few weeks ago and put their outstanding early albums back on my playlist

biggrin It's a great album, though you should start with their first album, "Felt Mountain"-which is very different to what they do now...
it is more chilled and she sounds like somekind of 1940's singer high in the windy, snowy mountains- it's really cinematic and lush.
I went to see them live last week and they were AMAZING, really blew everyone away...WOW!!!

Houses of the Holy--Led Zeppelin. A classic I am so lucky to have just bought for the first time.

Physical Graffiti--Led Zeppelin. Ditto.

American Idiot--Green Day. It's pop, not punk, but its great pop. Track 2 alone has as many hooks as some pop-punk bands' entire albums. Plus it's anti-Bush & has a great title (yes I'm American).

Animals--Pink Floyd. Not exactly a classic, but I've never heard any of these songs so it's a nice discovery.

3D--Jing Chi. Robben Ford is my favorite guitarist, but I'm not sure he can hold my attention over the course of this instrumental record of mediocre compositions.

Looks like I've gone stoner/guitar crazy!

3. Thelonious Monk & John Coltrane -- Live 1957 (Blue Note)

4. Dwele -- Some Kinda . . .

5. Gravediggaz -- 6 Feet Deep

I saw the video for "Ooh La La" and the reason that I was drawn to the song is because it's based on, and also samples, Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" which is one of my favorite songs of all time. nod And the video kicks ass too. I love how they're all 1972 glam. lol

Aye, it's an incredible record. I remember being furious no-one bought it and knowing they would split soon after. This Is Hardcore is my favourite though. Jarvis was in dark place, coked up, all elbows and knees, awkward and paranoid. Fantastic. smile

mushy Ah how I love Jarvis. lol

I'm actually listening to This is Hardcore as I type this. nod And the video for the title track is one of my favorite videos ever.

I didn't get into We Love Life until recently though, mainly because I remember seeing an interview w/ Jarvis about this album, and he was saying how it was their "happy" album. So I was like: neutral "Oh. Well I don't think I'd like that then." So I never got it until now. yay! I love it. "The Birds in Your Garden" and "Sunrise" are just beautiful IMO.

I'm not a stoner either.....anymore!

I had 1-4 since I was a kid, but I never had those two records. Physical Graffiti is mostly new to me (I know a lot of Houses of the Holy). To paraphrase Spinal Tap's Derek Smalls "I envy me." I wish I could hear some Beatles for the first time again.
