This song will likely go up next week its agian goin up on itunes.

maybe WB is buyin its own record

However in this weeks chart it droped from #9 to #12 in digital downloads

airplay

its been gettin airplay

hung up has only gone from #29 to #28 on pop airplay i dont have hot100 airplay

The number of spins has gone up dramatically but the audience
has been lackluster thats why only a one position move

This likely means her album wont benefit from this single

The album could flop becasue the song hasnt caught on

album won't flop it will score a one or two the first week out and have a steady sell. i'm thinking 3-4 million. the second single will fare better because she'll spend more time in the states. she will returned to LA soon to get to work on her tour. probably after thanksgiving and a trip to NY.

3-4mil looks too big for her in this situation

music which had a #1 single has sold 2.9million so far

i think if she sells 2million it will be enuff for her

3-4 press is good single will be better WBR is putting all their money in print and not on the single. it'll work

Have you guys been getting the complete overhaul in promo as we have in the UK? She's absolutely everywhere. TV, magazines- about 5 new ones every day, the mobile phone advert on every single ad-break. This is THE biggest promo campaign I've ever seen from her - or anyone for that matter. Seriously, it's unavoidable.

The album won't flop in the US. It's just that the Billboard Hot 100 isn't really dance/pop friendly.

the single came out on tuesday. the maxi comes out next week with the album. i'd bet there will be a jump this week or next because of it.

This week the sales on Itunes (and I believe Itunes is the only place you can buy the song, which puts her at a disadvantage) went up and I wouldn't be shocked if when the album comes out and she does some TV press here that it goes up a little more. It's in the Top Ten of Itunes, hell, Top five the past few days...that is good enough! Hip-hop radio still refuses to play it!

A US single? To me it looks like the only US single is the Maxi, which I think is terrible to release the same day as the album...no one is going to carry it!

There is no way this album will sell like music did. i predict 2million tops in the US. She just isnt popular there anymore. It will be a big fight between her and mariah for the number one spot i think. Mariah's 4th single from The Emancipation of Mimi is doing better than Madonna's and she hasnt even released Dont Forget About Us for download yet.

Well Kenny Chesney is projected to sell 600k+ albums this week

even if he falls the traditional 50-60% he might still be #1
ahead of both of them

Most artists dont release the download until the song has got enuff airplay or close to peakin on airplays. Thats madonnas mistake now the downloads have leveled off and the momentum is all but lost

no way this record is flopping. it will debut at number one like most of her previous releases. i think it will fall a few slots after the first week and then word of mouth is going to spread like a brush fire in southern cali during a summer droubt! i think after falling a few slots it will get back to the number one spot.

This only wishful thinking!!!

My gut instints tell me this will do no better then American life
because single downloads have just cannobilized album sales in the last 2years

There is still a chance it will go platinum after all WB r spendin 20$mil to market this album!!

1.5million sounds like an unachievable goal at this moment

2 million is a far of target unless the second single becomes a hit

hung up has totally lost momentum on airplay yesterday it just added 7 new spins
and the audience is down too

it has gone up on itunes but that only means less ppl might buy the album

to be honest, it is your "assessments" that seem like wishful thinking. shrug it more than kind of seems like you are hoping for a flop.

the record will be a hit.

Regardless of what happens with the record, those who wish it to be a flop will interpret it's figures as a failure; those who wish to read success into every endeavor will interpret it as a success. That's the way it is with opposite sides of fandom.

Madonna's album should at least go platinum here in the states.Because this record is being promoted as a return to her dance roots,it will probably be better received outside of the U.S.It's difficult to impact the pop charts with Electronica over here.I wish her well.

.it's # 3 on iTunes.
...#4 on TRL, and still rissing...
she's #18 on the US airplay chart.
currntly, #27 on billboard, but she's guaranteed to move to top 20 next week, considering the airplay and the iTunes...

if it stays at that level on itunes it will go back into top 20

Today for the first time hung up lost spins in the last 24hrs but not by much only 3spins negative
and spins dont determine the airplay its the audience and she has hardly moved on audeince she was 15mil+ 10days back and she is now 16.8mil

she reached as high as 17mil audience now she is 16.8 but most of the songs much lower on that chart have higher audience #29 has higher audience then her
next week she could as high as #18

first week downloads was around 30k which equal to 60mil audience
2nd week was 24k equals about 48mill audience

I think those Chesney numbers are wishful thinking. He might debut at number one but he won't be there for two weeks. That being said, Madonna might not make it either. I've always said that this album will be a big hit or big dud (I honestly wouldn't be shocked if it doesn't get into the Top Five or if it reaches #1 with half a million sold). To me it doesn't look like WB is doing a great job promoting the disc....she should be on TV here and performing live!

CynicKill

Wow all this hustling just to get a song that honestly should be a no-brainer hit, but isn't a sure bet, but why again?

To me she did quite a bit of promotion for the album. Sure it's not at the nauseating level of Britney Spears "In The Zone" promotion but she did her part. She was on Letterman. TRL. The video got a timely release. The phone commercial was a good teaser. They even released a "Hung Up" teaser online that they reported on the radio. The movie was shown on umpteen music channels. She did this video music awards thing. I mean honestly how much more can she do? How much more do sensible people expect her to do? It's no wonder Prince decided it wasn't worth it, even early in his career when he never really got the gist of record promotion. And who can blame him? In the end you have no cache. No respect. It's like you have to start all over again with every release. There's no reason that artists like Madonna, Prince or Janet should have to scratch and claw for radio airplay. There's no respect for veterans still putting out listenable material. It ain't right ya'll. It ain't right.
