Well I mean Jean Knight's "Mr. Big Stuff" was certainly NOT ruined by a Burger King commercial.

KISS's I Was Made For Loving You was used for eithe yoghurt or Special K -I can never remember

omfg I did not know that!

nod

I'm not entirely sure of the product, but it was definitely cereal or yoghurt or some other diet foodstuff peddled at 30-something women. It was weird.

No doubt.

I'd just prefer to have the writhing bodies of Salt-N-Pepa in my head rather than The Office Dudes. lol

Moby's Play album is famous for being super-whored out (licensed) for use in commercials and film. But I can't say I am reminded of any certain product when I hear those Play songs.

yet he keeps whining about how punk-rock he is.....brick

Oh, and Lenny Kravitz got given his first and only #1 here with 'Fly Away' because of that car advert, and anything that uses 'Song 2' by Blur.

Yeah, that's the one I was gonna say. For me, that song being in a car commerical signified the beginning of mainstream (read: not cool) Lenny. Once your song is appropriated for a car commercial, kiss your coolness good-bye. kiss2
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

The most obvious song/ad association has to be Dirty Vegas' "Days Gone By" in that Mitsubishi commerical (or was it Mazda) with the girl pop-locking in the passenger seat.

But was this song a hit before the commercial? I think if anything the commercial helped the song, not ruined it (at least in the US). shrug
I liked that song so much I
a. wanted to buy the Dirty Vegas cd
b. wanted to buy the car
c. wanted to learn to pop-lock

Sadly, I did none of the above... : lol :

Tampax used the Zombie's "Time of the Season" for one of their commericials too.....in a weird woodstock theme. lol

pissed I almost forgot about that! A great tune, and damn if they don't pick weird songs for those fucking Tampax commercials. A woman's period isn't a time of the season...it's a time of the month. Maybe I should just be grateful they didn't change the lyric to reflect that.

I remember when Nike used "Revoultion" from the Beatles for their commerial. I think because that this the only Beatles song I ever liked. (I believe the Beatles sued Nike over this.)

The Beatles didn't win, because MJ owns the right to the song, and let Nike use it. Serves Paul right for being too stingy to buy the rights to his own songs.

Marks and Spencer using the wonderful and amazing Albatross by Fleetwood Mac for their new commercials - yes, it fits, and it gets the point across, but it was a classic that now a whole generation thinks was written solely as a 30second instrumental for M&S!!

And of course Im going to think of those adverts when I hear it too, which is just not on because I love Fleetwood Mac!

It makes me so angry! mad

wave

That advert drives me crazy!!!

drool

Honestly, I can't watch it. That food drives me insane! horny

Okay, I'll leave it there. boxed
