Well I mean Jean Knight's "Mr. Big Stuff" was certainly NOT ruined by a Burger King commercial.

I did not know that! I'm not entirely sure of the product, but it was definitely cereal or yoghurt or some other diet foodstuff peddled at 30-something women. It was weird. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I beg to differ, tA. That ish was high-larious! No doubt. I'd just prefer to have the writhing bodies of Salt-N-Pepa in my head rather than The Office Dudes. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Yeah, that's the one I was gonna say. For me, that song being in a car commerical signified the beginning of mainstream (read: not cool) Lenny. Once your song is appropriated for a car commercial, kiss your coolness good-bye. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

But was this song a hit before the commercial? I think if anything the commercial helped the song, not ruined it (at least in the US). I liked that song so much I a. wanted to buy the Dirty Vegas cd b. wanted to buy the car c. wanted to learn to pop-lock Sadly, I did none of the above... : : The check. The string he dropped. I almost forgot about that! A great tune, and damn if they don't pick weird songs for those fucking Tampax commercials. A woman's period isn't a time of the season...it's a time of the month. Maybe I should just be grateful they didn't change the lyric to reflect that. It's the time...of the mooooonth for Taaaaam-paaaaax! [Edited 11/17/05 9:15am] I agree with you there. They act like a womand period is so fuc*ing fun or somthing. Darn commercials.

I remember when Nike used "Revoultion" from the Beatles for their commerial. I think because that this the only Beatles song I ever liked. (I believe the Beatles sued Nike over this.)

The Beatles didn't win, because MJ owns the right to the song, and let Nike use it. Serves Paul right for being too stingy to buy the rights to his own songs. |

And of course Im going to think of those adverts when I hear it too, which is just not on because I love Fleetwood Mac! It makes me so angry! That advert drives me crazy!!! Honestly, I can't watch it. That food drives me insane! Okay, I'll leave it there.
