Does any one like the funk band "Mandrill"

I was wondering is there some "Mandrill" fans out there. I jusr picked up their Greatist Hits cd today. I must say they have some serious "funk" going on. Hang Loose is "phat". House of Wood and Refuse to Smile are some good ballads too. cool

They are quite a few around here that dig the band.

Fencewalk: The Anthology is a wonderful starting point for hearing the range of this group's music and the album pictured as well as Composite Truth are two exceptional choices to have in your collection. I'll defer to our ORG funkolgists to enlighten you on other offerings from them, unless of course you're already familiar enough of them and just asking in general. I used to SO scared of that Mandrill when I was little. I had a cousin (God rest his soul) who painted two of Mandrill's album covers. That band was the s**t back in the day.

I meant to say that he painted them on the walls of his room. He was an awesome talent who exposed me to all kinds of music.

I like them. I found about them through Don Byron's "Nu Blaxploitation" record which featured several very accurately performed, almost replicated, covers.

Hey VA, I'm thinking you've probably heard Fencewalk at some point, though the name might not be familiar. It was hard to escape that tune back in the day...

Mandrill is awesome ... I saw open for Parliament back in the day. Too bad Mandrill Land (their double album) is out-of-print. There is a 2 disc set avaiable.
