Heather Headley teams with Jam & Lewis on second cd

Vocalist Heather Headley will on Jan. 31 release her sophomore RCA album, "In My Mind," which features guest turns by Lil Jon on "Back When It Was" and Shaggy on "Rain." Production was supplied by Babyface and Jimmy Jim and Terry Lewis. The title cut was co-written with Shannon Sanders (India.Arie, Kimberley Locke) and jumps 22-19 this week on Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart.

"In My Mind" is the follow-up to 2002's "This Is Who I Am," which peaked at No. 38 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 677,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It garnered Headley Grammy nominations for best new artist and best R&B vocalist.

"I wanted the album to be like a book, almost," Headley says. "Where the songs provide glimpses into my personality, taking you to some very different places musically, and hopefully are full of fun and surprises along the way."

Loved her first cd, andcan't wait for this one.

Broadway is what made her famous. I just thought the songs were dull. Hopefully that will change.

With Jimmy & Terry producing, do you REALLY expect Broadway ballads?

Is this the woman with the big hair and annoying voice? Kinda sounds like Cher?
If so, I really hate her voice.

They did some work on her first album. I think it may have just been one song.

No. And I have no idea who you're talking about. Big hair, annoying voice - could be anybody.

I saw Heather in "Aida" back in 2001, with dance diva Taylor Dayne playing Princess Amneris. I enjoyed it.

They did a good job with "I Wish I Wasnt"

I hope they supply a faast track. Alot of these soul artists need to start releasing more uptempo trax. Leele James shoudlve followed with the second track from her album "Good Time" (was that the title??). It wouldve done good.

Erykah Badu did it and to me is her best album (Worldwide..)
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Yeah, I thought her first cd was a bit dull too. But I'll support her again if I like what I hear because I know she can sang.

yeah isn't it funny? A sangin' ass woman don't matter unless she has a great producer to bring her out...yet non singin' hoez like Ashanti, and Ciara shine over her.... disbelief

True. It's a problem with a lot of great singers. Bad material can bring them down.
