Remember the rumor about her working with Martin Gore of Depeche Mode? I wonder what that collaboration would have sounded like hmmm

Probably dark and moody and gorgeous. I'd still like to see something come of that.

I'd still like to see her do a rock album.I really like the rock-ish feel of "I Love New York" (despite the crappy lyrics, lol). She should say Fuck it,and just do a loud, aggressive rock album. She's been flirting with the idea for awhile now.

I think "American Life" is the closest we're gonna get in sound and attitude.

Not really. My girlfriend doesn't know much about them either, but her friend had an extra ticket so she decided to check it out.The next day,she went out and bought their latest CD 'Playing The Angel' (I think that's the title?).

I'll listen to their CD,and see if I like it.

I hope not! Madonna can make a better rock album than that lol

The stuff on 'Remixed and Revisted' is great. That's the direction I'd like to see her go in,if only for one album.

I agree. When I heard that this is a balladless, dance album, I figured this album would be right up my alley. I was very disappointed with it. I was expecting house music but I wasn't expecting techno house. I was expecting funky house songs along the lines of "Thief Of Hearts". When I stopped buying house music was when techno took over it.

"funky house songs"? lol...I guess you're not familiar with Madonna's recent work. She's well past the house music stage. These days, she's strictly into electropop and Eurodisco.

I was expecting a little acid techno or eurodisco, because that's what in right now in the clubs. I just wasn't expecting every track to be these type of songs. I was expecting some stuff like "Thief Of Hearts", "Ray Of Light", or "Music". All dance tracks but a variety of different dance styles.

I'm starting to warm up to the song about New York and maybe one or two more.

"I Love New York" kicks ass! Musically,it's similiar to 'Ray Of Light'.The lyrics are shit, but it's a fun song with alot of attitude.

same here, its my favourite on the album, and actually i dont think the lyrics are that bad. usually i cringe like on mother and father when she has terrible lyrics, but on i love new york i guess the song is so good i dont even care about the lyrics. its good to finally see someone like this song, all the people on the madonna forums and even most on here always put it in the bottom of their favourites list.

I like the sound, the attitude, and the urgency of "I Love New York".It's an explosive track! Rolling Stone's review of the album suggests that the album could have used more of this "Ciccone sass" lol

To me it seems more related to "Candy Perfume Girl" and "I'm So Stupid". I like the song a lot too, so I guess that makes 3 of us. lol

It's a really good album. Definitely a return to form. If you like even some of it, I'd recommend you go out and get "Violator" ASAP.

besides the crappy rhyming couplets... WHY did Madonna feel the need to put down Paris, London, and Los Angeles in that song to make her point? disbelief

That makes it hard to perform the song in any other city but New York.

I like U2's dedication to "New York" more.

U2's is SO good.

But yeah, you make a good point. I bet she leaves it out of her set for that very reason.

She explains the audience that she loves London too but New York taught her how to survive... neutral

I still don't understand why other cities make her feel like a dork??? confuse

I don't think she really means it. We all know she loves London. Miami too. We also know she hates LA.

I think she just wanted to do a fun send-up of the city she came of age in.

I think this song isn't fun - it's lame... disbelief

I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously. Any song that uses "dork", "eff off" and rhymes mad, sad and glad can't be serious. I think it's her trying to be irreverant and punk rock. I'm not saying she succeeds, but I think it's just meant to be a fun, silly song.
