I haven't bought this cd yet. I heard some samples on line and wasn't impressed with what I heard. It just kinda sounded like cheesy european dance music to me. However I may pick it up on the weekend. I was so hoping this was going to be an electro album but it deoesn't sound that way.

Euro dance music makes me ill and there are moments upon first listening when I was giving it the screw face but my head was still nodding to the beat. It's not too Euro and that's a good thing to me. When I first heard Hung Up I was like "OMG, how could she?...I like this part tho...this sucks...but the beat is hot...this is cheesy..." yet I can't keep still. "Time goes by, so slowly" It's a little addictive if you give it a chance. I like that it has a mood and I'm definitely looking forward to the remixes. The songs I love, I love, and there are a few in the middle and maybe one or two I skip but they don't suck, they might need more attention before I decide.

But one thing that's true for me is that often I'm so excited or so longing for something by my favorite artists I'm just glad to have something new and it's only later that I realize that maybe it's not all that. I don't expect the earth to move from Madonna, she is what she is and I don't mean that in a negative way. The songs could be a little faster and lyrics are just okay but the album is not a bust by any means. So for me COAD is a good thing.

No intentions of buying this but I skip most Madonna albums anyway smile Don't know why folks are surprised though - even the title sucks confused

How does one exactly "confess" on a dancefloor with all the music pumping, and why would anybody want to do that on a dancefloor?

the title is perfect for this record. rarely do i think record titles are at all symbolic of what's on the record. this time, though, it is what it is. she has made a dance record and its fun but if you listen, she is bearing parts of her soul. let it will be, how high, isaac, like it or not, future lovers...these all have personal aspects that are more than just "i wanna dance and have fun." she is indeed offering confessions on a dance floor.

It neatly ties in with how my buds and I name the album; Confessions Of A Dance Whore, hehehe.

I'll be checkin' this out soon.... I just hope, come next album, Madonna FINALLY drops the electronica thing.

It'll be interesting to see where she heads next. Will she stick with producer Stuart Price? Will she make another "fun" album,or do a "serious" album next time around? Will she finally release the rumored rock album that she's been hinting at?

I predict that she won't abandon the Europop/electronica sound anytime soon. She seems to be comfortable in this genre, working with (mostly) unknown/non-commercial producers that aren't from America.

You know what's funny? At the beginning of the year, there were rumors that she was working on a "danceable rock" album. Not sure if she started this project and then abandoned it,or if it's just a rumor, but it could have been interesting. The downside is,a rock album would be a hard sell for her fans that prefer dance music.

have you ever heard 'voo doo child' by the rogue traders? its not exactly hard rock, its electronica as well, i think that would be perfect, that style of music.

i dont think it would abandon anyone as its still dance based

The absolute pinnacle of dance rock is New Order and I would come buckets if she worked with them. Even if her next record sounded like them, I'd be happy.

The album is boring and some of the lyrics (especially I Love New York - again giggle ) are terrible... smile

Its like an underground sounding release of deep album cuts and not hits. I think that was the vibe they were going for. Nothing remarkable but just going for some 1'oclock club vibe. It succeeds in that.

I agree. When I heard that this is a balladless, dance album, I figured this album would be right up my alley. I was very disappointed with it. I was expecting house music but I wasn't expecting techno house. I was expecting funky house songs along the lines of "Thief Of Hearts". When I stopped buying house music was when techno took over it.

These days,if a CD has four songs that I like,I consider it a gem lol

I never expect to like an album all the way through, but if I can find three or four really good songs,I'm satisfied. With this album,I pretty much like all the songs, except for "How High",and even that is starting to grow on me.

"funky house songs"? lol...I guess you're not familiar with Madonna's recent work. She's well past the house music stage. These days, she's strictly into electropop and Eurodisco.
