what songs do you like on this CD?

Well, I've only listened to it 3 times so far.

"Hung Up" has really grown on me. Definitely a highlight.

"Get Together" is my instant favorite. love

"Sorry" was so-so on my first listen, but I'm liking it more and more each time.

"Future Lovers" I loved on first listen but kinda irks me now. Not sure why. Doesn't feel like a fully formed song.

"I Love New York" is ridiculous to be sure, but it sounds like New Order. For that it gets bonus points.

"Let It Will Be" is okay.

"Forbidden Love" is okay.

"Jump" I was lukewarm on, but now I think it's among the best. It's gotta be a single. nod

"How High". Eh. confused Sounds like Kylie.

"Isaac" drives me up the fucking wall. The makings of a great song are there, but I cannot deal with the chanting. At least not how it's used in this song.

"Push" I was expecting to love. The verses kinda bug me. I think that I wish it was in a major key. I like the r+b feel though. Wish she'd go more in that direction.

"Like It Or Not" is very nice. Closes the album in a similar fashion to "Gone" and "Easy Ride", both of which I love.

Like I said, I do like the album. More each time. But it's still not grabbing me like a Madonna album should. Something about the music and production is just kinda generic. I may grow to love it though. I dropped "Erotica" the first couple weeks it was out cuz I was so into Prince's "Symbol" and thought it was shit compared to that. Now, it's practically my favorite Madonna album. So who knows?

On first listen,I wasn't crazy about "Forbidden Love" and "How High".I still don't like "How High",but now I really, really like "Forbidden Love".It's the closest thing to a ballad on this album, and it's very hypnotic.

"Jump" is rumored be the third single, after "Sorry".There are plans to release a total of five singles from this project,so it'll be interesting to see what songs will be chosen.I really think "Push" would work as a single. It has a cool R&B feel to it.

If "Get Together" isn't a single, it'll be an absolute crime. It's just about the catchiest, happiest thing on there.

How is this Disco? Apart from a couple of samples, this is not Disco to me. It's like watered down versions of 'Groovejet'.

I totally agree. That song will become a Madonna classic, whether it becomes a single or not music it'll be the perfect opening song for her tour next year

I am a Madonna fan and bought the cd with baited breath. I picked up my lovah from the airport last night and we listened on the way home. His response was, 'i think her best songs are behind her.' He liked Jump, and I think its a great pop song. The remix will also do well.

You don't have to defend the cd, like people said, it is what it is, a cd. There will be more.

I'm still waiting on a good Prince cd.

Thanks for no flames

"How High" is the one song that I don't like.I'm shocked that it is such a disappointment. This is one of the two tracks that was produced by Bloodshy and Avant.Oh well,at least their other contribution ("Like It Or Not") is superb.

Most disappointing hyped up record ever i would say. The hype is certainly just that..hype.

i absolutely hear where you're coming from. i guess its just odd to me that this cd is the epitome of pop music and its made by the woman who has epitomized pop music for 20+ years yet some of those who love her are not happy with it.

as far as lyrics...c'mon..."everybody, come on dance and sing, everybody get up and do your thing (repeat 3x)." or what about the corny cheesy lyrics to borderline or lucky star. or how about the fact that holiday basically repeats the same two verses over and over. the simple lyric style is how madonna started, lol. i don't know...i'm really trying to understand how anyone could not like this record. i admit, though, i'm biased because i absolutely adore this new collection!

I know we all have our own opinions and tastes, but it's hard to imagine longtime Madonna fans having a problem with this CD.This CD is everything that Madonna is about. It even references many of her past hits.I think it sounds more like Madonna than her last three albums.

damn dude, we gotta thread all on its own for peeps who dont like the album and you still gotta cheerlead your way to defending madge. headache

I'm very much enjoying the CD, but I do understand many of the criticisms of it.

I have been impressed by how much the CD has grown on me since I started listening to it a few weeks ago. Gangsta mentioned that on first listen, the tacks just kinda melded together and weren't distinct. That was definately how I felt at first. However, FOR ME it has become much more on repeated listens.

"Future Lovers" in particular has jumped into my favorites pile on the CD. Initially it felt like an 'idea' and not a 'song'. Now though, I wait for the "woosh" moments in the song that pull you back into the beat and the original use of the sample.

How High is probably my least favorite on the CD. I could blame it on her tired critique of fame. That being said, Let It Will Be is a favorite.

In no way do I think this is the best CD ever. But it's FUN. It makes me wanna get up and move. It makes me smile. I can really ask for no more from a little pop album.

PS- with a few exceptions, GOOD WORK on this thread people. It's refreshing to see honest criticisms and compliments with very little flaming or baiting. Granted there are a few blatant flames on this thread but I love that folks have basically ignored them and kept on with a good discussion.

nahh..id be proud if you'd just except that people dont have the same taste as you....you always have to qualify your statements with a "you have the right to feel what you want but *I* just dont see how a fan could not like it" type statements..

well, yeah you can...cause we all have different taste..and fans are stating such...

but anyways....im done with my lil rant.

I dont see that this necessitates a new thread. The other thread is about your opinons on the new album, and stating an opinion aint pissing on anyones parade. To seperate the two indicates that the people who are posting on there are simply pathetic sycophants, who only want to hear one thing - praise, and i think thats an insult to quite a few people including myself.

More so, its not about defending the album. If a Maddy fan doesn't like the album, isnt getting what Im getting from it, then thats fine. I feel sorry for them that the album isn't what they want it to be, but there's very little i could do to change their opinion of it.

What i would say is quit treating people with kid gloves and just keep one thread open. Having a haters thread and a lovers thread only serves to incite more arguments over nothing. How can people from both sides discuss the record together if there are 2 seperate threads?

I've heard the CD a few times and my least favorite has to be "How High". Like a few said before, it sounds like a perfect song for Kylie, and I've only heard a few songs from her, plus it just doesn't do it for me. "Forbidden Love" is in the same place as "How High" but I like it a little more but the song that disappointed me was "Future Lovers". It's not bad, in fact I don't think any of the songs on COAD are bad, but with that one, I was expecting it to be more than what it was, especially when they said that they sampled Donna's "I Feel Love" (one of my favorite songs) so I thought it would be hotter than it was and that line when she says "In the evidence of it brilliance" or something like that, it kinda gets on my nerves. Oh, I didn't like "I Love New York" at first but it's growing on me. It helps that I am a New Yorker so, I totally feel the message of the song biggrin . Great thread.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Thats not an explanation as to why two threads are required. I would rather be able to read everyones opinion on one thread than flit between 2 different ones. By this logic we'll be opening up 2 threads for every point of discussion on anything. confused

because this is a community site with no major rules and we try to accomidate everyone...your comments have been considered....

and lets not pull out extremes, no we will not be creating alternate threads for every subject...

well, that is unless the majority of folks want it that way.
