Home Grown! The Beginners Guide To Understanding The Roots Vol 1-2 Thoughts?
The Seed/Melting Pot/Web is worth the price of both of them (9.99 each) alone. And 20 page liner notes are badazz imo.

I thought about getting these, but have heard mixed reviews. Do they cover most of the highlights?

I'm definitely happy with both purchases. Even though I have the bulk of this stuff I have to give ?uestlove credit for being a master sequencer. Both discs flow so nicely.
Those Gilles Peterson tracks are definitely worth the purchase I would definitely recommend these discs for anyone who is curious about The Roots. For a group with no top ten hits and no strong commercial following their longevity in this business without "proper" label support is something that commands respect.

n certain ways yes. Its not exactly a greatest hits per se' in the way one is used to hearing them, but some speacial cuts, special or different versions of their music. And time and care was put into it from the founding member, rather then just being lackadaiscial and putting just anything and typically known versions fo their songs on it. And each has like 20 pages of liner notes explaining the songs and the situations surrounding them. 2uest gave this a jazz release treatment.
