I still love Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five! I think they've just re-released their catalogue so I got Grandmaster Melle Mel and the Furious Five over the weekend. It's a really good cd. It's like old skool rap and new wave! I love these guys and many other old skool rappers too!

Yeah, and my wife makes fun of me all the time. I tell that rap for the most parts started to suck after about '94 or '95. Big daddy kane, Doug 'E' Fresh, Run-Dmc, I listen to all of that stuff all the time.

It's the only rap I listen to. I listen to people like Egyptian Lover, Pretty Tony and Freestyle, Soul Sonic Force, Divine Sounds, Twilight 22, Newcleus, Grandmaster Flash, Run DMC, and Kurtis Blow all the time.

i met Scorpio about 7 years ago, he was with Grandmaster Flash.

Pretty Tony and Freestyle had songs called "The Party Has Begun", "Jam The Box", "Fix It In The Mix", "It's Automatic", and "Freestyle Express". On a lot of their songs, they rapped in a robotic, electronic voice. All their music was very uptempo and dance floor oriented.

Divine Sounds had a song called "What People Do For Money". Very uptempo rap.

Twilight 22 had the jams "Electric Kingdom" and "Siberian Nights". They were also very uptempo and featured an electronic voice every now and then. Their songs sound like they could have influenced The Egyptian Lover a year or two later.

I gave up on Run DMC when I bought their 1990s album "Down With The King". It was the same type of rap that I'm always complaining about with current rap artists....too slow and midtempo.

I listen to alot of ol' school rappage...
I got 'Boogie Down Bronx' playing right now.

Sure I listen to it. I love it! In fact, it's the only rap I like.

Channel 802 on directv is an old school rap music channel. The music is not entirely old school. The channel plays music up to about 1992. I dont consider 1992 to be old school for rap, but music from the early eighties and even late 70s is played.
