Take That documentary this Wednesday!!! Better then the new kids on the block? Yay....
Or nay? U know, take that were pretty good. I got their greatest hits! I've said this before, but "pray" "back for good" "it only takes a minute girl" (funny song) are great pop songs.... God were they (deliberately) camp. Unlike the new kids, who had a anti gay thing going on (they tried hard to look realistically macho). Take that never tried to be hip.

I loathed them. I laughed so much when they split up, and when Robbie left it was a day of mourning at school. Brilliant day laughing in the faces of those utter twats who seriously told me that MY musical tastes were just a phase Robbie was the only one who even sang on 'Could It Be Magic'. Mark seems like a nice enough bloke, and I liked his second solo single 'Clementine', but he can't really sing.

Honestly, Take That was comparable to Backstreet or 98 Degrees and all those other boybands that came out when I was 14, but NKOTB sounded like absolute shit. Pure and utter sonic feces. I blame Maurice Starr. He had a habit of puttin out a group of boys regardless of talent (Ahem, New Kids' Joey and Bobby Brown) or looks (New Kids' Danny and Bell Biv Devoe) and relying on the overactive hormones of prepubescent girls to buy everything they put out. And it worked. If it please the jury, I present the state's exhibit A: A Funky, Funky Christmas Live featuring Arsenio Hall.

Backstreet Boys and Take That had more mingers than New Kids ever did. At least Danny from NKOTB had a decent body.

Everybody liked "Back For Good", for a moment they became "the only respectable boyband in the world" and then it was over.

Boyzone were worse. They had monkey boy Gately:
And Westlife, the most EVIL group in the history of the world, had floppy haired cunt Bryan MdFadden: ![]()

I have no idea who Take That is but they'd have to be better than NKOTB. I think every band is better than NKOTB, except maybe Hanson.

Take That were the best "boy band" the uk has ever had...Boyzone SUCKED!!!!!

Yeah, but Boyzone were Irish. Blandy ballad nonsense just like Westshite. Anyone remember EYC? They were the only American boyband at the time after New Kids split and before BSB came along.

It only took a minute girls
TAKE THAT thrived on their reputation for being squeaky clean. But when I spoke exclusively to MARK OWEN, GARY BARLOW, HOWARD DONALD and JASON ORANGE yesterday, they shattered that image. It is the first full interview the lads have done together since they split on February 13, 1996. They spoke to me before the premiere of ITV1 documentary Take That: The Final Report, in London’s West End. Here’s what they had to say about life, the universe, threesomes, LSD — and fifth band member ROBBIE WILLIAMS. GARY BARLOW, 34 On women: “Some of our best nights would be in a club after a concert with loads of women. “When you look at the papers now and see a girl talking about sleeping with a footballer you wonder why there weren’t millions of stories about us. It was almost a woman a night.” On Robbie: “When he started the war of words at first I wanted to retaliate. But I never called. “My deal was I have had the same mobile number for 15 years — if he wanted to get in touch he could have done. “His career has got so big I’d never want to be him. Especially when he’s at Knebworth. I could never do that, I could never compete so I just kept my mouth shut.” On money: “I earned £15million from Take That because I wrote so many songs. Since then I’ve spent only what I’ve been earning through my solo career and producing — so I’ve still got about £15million in the bank.” On life after Take That: “On stage on one of my solo tours I thought, ‘I don’t like this, this is sh*t.’ Sharing the moment with the band was easily the best bit. “I worked with CHARLOTTE CHURCH on her album and we’re planning more songs next year.” MARK OWEN, 33 On going solo: “When I got dropped from my record company I had my doubts about music as before that we only knew the highs of Take That — but the disappointment was good for me.” On Robbie: “I’m proud of him — he’s done really well, he’s grown up a handsome man.” On drugs: “We used to love going to Amsterdam, it was our favourite gig but we never had heroin or anything pushed on us.” On women: “We must have been quite forgettable because we never really had a kiss and tell. “There were a lot of women — it was company for us because we were on the road so long. We were growing up and indulged in some of the pleasures. We met some great girls.” On life after Take That: “I miss the fun but I don’t miss the hysteria. I’ve got a new single, Hail Mary, out next month.” HOWARD DONALD, 35 On suicide: “I had a mad ten minutes staying in a London hotel. I actually went to the Thames to throw myself in then thought, ‘What an idiot. If I’m going to throw myself in I’m just going to get cold and then have to swim to get out again.’ ” On drugs: “In the early days we dabbled with Ecstasy and liked the odd spliff, but who doesn’t? “In the late 80s and early 90s when I went clubbing I tried LSD but I grew out of it. And none of us took drugs before shows.” On Robbie: “I’m not surprised the way Robbie’s career has gone because he was so full of showmanship and so full of himself. Him on stage now was Robbie in Take That — so full of confidence and such a big ego.” On money: “It was said we earned £25million each but it was more like £4million. I’m jealous of Gary — in the beginning I watched him writing and thought one day I’ll take some of that money away from you. But you can’t compete with the quality.” On life after Take That: “I really miss it but if it hadn’t ended I wouldn’t have two beautiful daughters. My life is looking after two children in two countries, England and Germany, then DJ-ing at the weekends. “I hate hearing our music in pubs now. As soon as you walk in they put a song on but it makes me feel uncomfortable.” JASON ORANGE, 35 On Robbie: “Part of me is envious of him, but there was tension between us. “I thought he was a loud-mouthed, arrogant so and so. He thought I was Mr Serious and we clashed. “Looking back I think Robbie was being more of himself and I was being an actor. I’d love to see him again.” On women: “Orgies and roasting — that’s a new phenomenon since we were on the scene. We may have had a threesome but that was it. We were discreet, we had an eye on our image.” On money: “I’m comfortable but it’s how you look at it. We were paid handsomely but the record companies take most of it.” On life after Take That: “I don’t miss it, I’m doing absolutely nowt now. I went back to college and studied history, literature, psychology and sociology. I don’t know what I’ll do next.” You’ve read the words, now hear the music . . . Take That’s greatest hits – The Ultimate Collection: Never Forget, is out next week. http://www.thesun.co.uk/a...75,00.html

I can't be objective after seeing Mark's naked chest on the beach in 'Pray'... Seriously though, it's one of these bands I despite at the moment they're popular. Their music makes me nostalgic ten years later though. But I can't honestly say if their music is better than Ace of Bace or Snap.

This documentary is like a pop-themed Spinal Tap. I'm embarrassed watching it.
They all seem bitter, old before their time and sad. The revelation about the wanking competitions at the back of the tour bus was too much information!

Well I just saw it. I'd forgotten just how HUGE they were. It's weird, because utter bland crap aimed at old ladies like Westlife have sold more, but Take That had far more hysteria.
Mark & Howard seem like OK blokes. Jason sounds SO gay, but he's not, apparently because he either did or didn't shag Lulu

Now i want a new kids documentary. Their mstory is much more interesting. Maurice is ine interesting manager/songwirter/producer/body guard/ con man to ignore.
Also, donnie wahlberg actually being a good actor is a shocker too. Remember east 17? "deep" is a great song. As is "house of love". Iam waiting to hear "stay another day" repeated on radio over christmas and the retro music channels. Its actually a sad song if u listen to it.

I wasn't a huge fan of East 17 but I did buy their music unlike Take That. I even stuck 'Deep', 'Alright', 'House Of Love' and 'Steam' on my iPod They're all equal wankers now too though, but I thought Tony Mortimer was a better songwriter than Gary Barlow.

http://www.tony-mortimer.com/ Didn't one of them say "coke is cool" or something, when infact, as usual, the media took it out of contxt and he was hounded for being a bad role model?

That was Brian. He admitted to taking ecstacy and said he'd done loads of pills in a night and didn't think they were any harm. It was when there was some added hysteria at the time of a few teenagers dying in clubs from drug related stuff. He was sacked from the band, then they split up, came back again without Tony who couldn't get on with Brian... then Brian tried to go solo, then he tried to top himself by running himself over with his own car on a hill.
You couldn't make it up!
