14 on the Hot 100!

She appears at number 4 on iTunes right now.

The momentum is incredible! She and Warners have done an exceptional job promoting and hyping this CD.It also helps that "Hung Up" is an extremely catchy and commercial single with mass appeal.

Sure, Delusional. Could it be that with the album out and people not being very familar with the song yet they are buying the single first? Is WB also buying the 4 copies of the album...if so, why are they at all different places on the charts? Wouldn't it make sense to buy them and make them 1 through 4....why isn't the Non-Stop mix selling better? Get over yourself, please!

Warner Bros....buying all the copies?

Madonna is popular in San Francisco?

Sold out on Amazon? I wonder how often that happens becuase I was on there and saw that both verisons of Neil Diamond's new disc didn't appear to be in stock anymore....I doubt it went out of print!

i doubt this is the case but let's just say it is. is that any different than paying radio stations to play your song so more people hear it? not really.

but again, i doubt they need to buy their own song to put it at number one. its a hot song and everbody is talking about it (and the new cd).

I dont think record companies would buy thier own albums becasue it doesnt make any sense financially but for singles it makes a significant impact

just spendin 35k/week will get u a hit single. I am sure they used to pay alot more payola. Its just such a real posibility i am sure record companies will do anything to get a hit!!

But what i have heard so far is the album is surpassin the projections so far but i will get a very good projection early monday morning

Prince bought a gazillion copies of "The Most Beautiful Girl"
and later he handed singles out for free at tour dates.

I'm sure he bought himself that world wide #1, in some way or
form.

I was going to apologize for coming off sort of as a jerk in one of my response threads to you, but I guess you ignored it.

What is up with that....I heard it doesn't work in computers. They really screwed that up since it was a big seller it's first week out and considering the fact that older people love Diamond and they will be out in stores, they might buy a few copies up too. So if you bought it, will they take it back and give you a good copy? Sony is fucking up, but forget them since this is a Madonna thread.

Couldn't it be that people are just buying the song? I think it's quite a lot of trouble to get an Itunes account (I guess it would be mulitple accounts) and download a song a trillion times to make it number one. Payola sounds a lot easier! The album is selling well too (on Itunes at least) so it makes sense to me. I don't think an Itunes number one is that big of a deal. Maybe a number one Billboard song, and I don't see that happening (maybe Top Ten).

:giggle" "Madestey" BTW, I'm buying the maxi single later today. I not only bought a copy of the disc but foolishly bought the deluxe edition on Itunes (the video barely works!). Madonna is getting a whole lot of my money but I'm warming up to the album, so she deserves it.
