Z Cult Favorite/Talking Heads-"Once In A Lifetime" One of the coolest songs EVER, by ANYONE is "Once In A Lifetime". This song is silly funky, if that makes any sense. This song always makes me feel all giddy in side and shit. The lyrics are funny as hell and the rhythm guitar during "Same as it ever was" is brilliant. Off of the album "Remain In Light" from 1980, whenever I play this, it amazes me on how ahead of it's time this song was. Oh, and P dug this song to death as well. He used to use it as part of his soundcheck on the 1999 tour. Who else out there can get with this cut? SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

The Talking Heads was one of the funkiest bands out there, and that may be because Bernie Worrell played on the Stop Making Sense Tour. Great pick as usual B.

I LOVE THEM...REMAIN IN LIGHT when DAVID BYRNE is in the BIG SUIT is GREAT... They are EXCELLENT...Saw them as many times as I could in NYC. They played FORREST HILLs TENNIS STADIUM . That was GREAT.... I met him at the RITZ and NEARLY DROPPED DEAD. We shook hands and he was with ADELE. It was So COOL. I was in HEAVEN CAUSE he was MY OTHER IDOL BESIDES PRINCE....

I agree, but, I never see it on any 80s compilations... That's probably because the Talking Heads ( like Prince, the beatles , Stones, Bruce , Pink Floyd, and Metallica) have a contract that allows them to dictate how and when their songs are used. Therefore, unlike most artists, their work can not just be put in compilations without their permission #SOCIETYDEFINESU

PM Dawn did a great version in a medley.
I'd like to suggest that everyone enjoy "Why God Loves You" from the 'Jesus Wept' CD. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

I list this as my all-time favorite song. Funny and ironic with a hidden message. I still contemplate my life moments when I hear the lyrics, "you may find yourself in a beautiful house / with a beautiful wife / you may ask yourself / well...how did I get here?"
