I don´t like comparing Prince to Mike either. They´re both genises in their own fields.
But Mike is not a product. People who work for him work for many other artist and still there´s NOBODY whose music and videos could be compared to him so it must be HIM being the main creative mind. If it were the people who work for him, his work would not have stood out. Whenever you watch the making of documentaries for Smooth Criminal, Ghost or videos like that, you´ll hear the directors saying it was all Michael´s ideas. The dancing, the settings, the story. Everything. As for writing songs. Those who have seen his Mexican depositon tape that he gave where he shows how he writes, you cannot help thinking this man is an absolute musical genius. Britney, Spice Girls and others - those, I´d say are, products. Nothing new, nothing artistically special. Just pretty faces, hot bodies and catchy melodies. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

"Thriller" is far from the "perfect pop album" folks have been describing it for ages. Having said that, even if songs like "Baby Be Mine" or "P.Y.T." aren't as "high-profile" tracks as "Beat It" or "Billie Jean", and nowhere nearly as characterized/stylized, they're still good songs. The only piece of fluff I can't stand on the pack is however "The Girl Is Mine" - "Say, Say, Say" was far better and I'm a little surprised it has never been featured on any of the Jackson compilations. Think he still has some rights on it as well as McCartney.

Oh come on, spouting out crap like "Thriller is rubbish" is quite simply ridiculous, u could release "billie jean" tomorrow and it would be a number 1 single, u gotta remember that album is nearly 25 yrs old. The most overlooked song on that album is "the lady in my life", turn the lights out, turn the volume up and just soak in the beauty of it. "human nature" is absolutely amazing and one of the best live songs he does. The only song on thriller that could have been taken out is "the girl is mine" which is the cheesiest thing he has ever done.

TRU Man , i dig the end of that song also ... improvise-like , and Louis Johnson doing some subtle thumb-slaps on the bass ... classic piece !
