O'Bryan had quite a few uptempo hits in the 80's. Just a Gigolo. I'm Freaky. Lovelite. You and I (remake), Breakin' Together and of course, Soul Train's A Comin'. He even had a trademark black and gold lame' jacket he would often wear...trying to bite off of Prince's style. Looking back on O'Bryan now, it should've been obvious that he's gay. Never saw him with a woman. Then he had that look about him. At one time he was talking about a comeback. But I doubt it now. | |

I've read about men who tried to hide or ignore their sex-preference for the male-sex, by getting married . It can depend on many personal cases ( ashamed for the family / work / etc ) .... and despite the acceptance of homosexuality , there are still men/women who fear the concequences in their personal life . By the way , the soulful track "Doing Alright" on O'Bryan's 1982-debut album is a great piece of composing and orchestration .
