Give it up for The Dazz Band.

Anybody like The Dazz Band? This band was funky as hell. Some of my favorites are....

Let It Whip
Keep It Live (On The KIL)
Joystick
Swoop (I'm Yours)
To The Roof
Let It All Blow
On The One For Fun
Can You Dance
Party Right Here
Knock Knock
I Might As Well Forget About Loving You

Let It All Blow is just so fecking brilliant and is just one of those songs that define the 1980's in the best way. I also just picked up one of their albums from 1983 on vinyl for 50pence. Not listened to it yet though.

Nope. Just naming songs off the top of my head this morning. It's Friday so it's time to jam. I had to liven the org up a little because it was looking kinda dead this morning.....too many threads on current artists. lol

Stymie

I love the Dazz Band but I wish they had more cuts like Knock Knock. That was such a great ballad.

I grew up on the Dazz Band. I remeber Let it whip & Joysticka and many others. Mines are When you needed roses, Joystick, Heartbeat and until you. that one of my favorite 80's r&b groups.

I love all of the Dazz Band joints but one song, near and dear to my heart is "Catchin' Up On Love".

AWWWYEAH ! SWOOP !

I've heard some live-recordings from them around 1982 & 1983 . Awesome tight band when they hit on stage . 1983 was their Grammy-year for " best live-act " and made them tour all over the place . Friends of mine saw them around then . They remembered the blasting dynamic sound on those gigs . And four musicians who took lead-vocals ! . Trumpeter Skip Martin was the main-vocalist . Check his solo-work ( www.cdbaby.com )

Another fine live-recording has been commercially issued around 1996 on Intersound Records . They play an interesting jazz-improvised version of " Let It All Blow " .
More Live recordings were released on that label : CAMEO , CONFUNKSHUN , GAP BAND , LAKESIDE , OHIO PLAYERS , etc .

Latest discovery was an official 1982-videoclip i saw from " Let It Whip " omg
... filmed live-onstage with the track mixed under it .

Around 1987 i missed to see a concert from them in my country wall

Nice little add on the "Joystick"-album is the short-instrumental "Ta Mata".
Worth to buy too are the albums before that 1983 album , and the two 70's albums from Kinsman Dazz ( before it became the Dazz Band ).

On the Dazz-albums "Invitation To Love"(1980) and "Let The Music Play"(1981) i discovered the first appearance ( performing /composing ) of the later CAMEO-member and keyboardist Kevin Kendrick ( or Kendricks ... never knew the right spelling ).
