Rick Springfield

I love jammin' to some of his stuff. With no grand false pretenses (ahem U2), just good ole' 80's pop rock.

Fav songs

Living in oz
human touch (this track has dated the worst, but its catchy)
alyson
dance the world away (sounds like peter gabriel)
my fathers chair (sad song)
the power of love (tao of love)
celebrate youth
rock of life
World start turning

True his albums sound quite the same, but its consistant stuff. "tao" is my fav album overall.

(go ahead and flame me yet again)

My five-year old daughter loves "Jesse's Girl." She has an 80s cd and will play and sing that song over and over.

My dad use to play my older sis "jesse's girl" as a kid.

Not that rick is heavy, but his later stuff was more rock then "jesse's girl", not that iam defending rick, "jesse's girl" is an ok song, but i love some of his 80's stuff.

He was my next door neighbor in the mid 90's. And to think of how obsessed the girl up the street was with him back in the 80's! She nail-polished a small photo of him on her thumb.

Nice guy, but I heard some god-awful guitar playing coming from his place. I can only hope it was his son.

I have no clue who is was/is, and my dad had "jesse's girl" on 45 and that was it, but i know he had no career here in uk. Good to know some people know of him.

Yeah, I only heard of him through Jesse's Girl on the Boogie Nights soundtrack. Then I found Working Class Dog for 99p in a bargain bin, but other than that you can't really find his albums anywhere in the UK. Human Touch got to #23 but that was his only Top 40 hit here.

Rick Springfield song of the day: "Bop Til You Drop" (1984) headbang

BOP TIL YOU DROP
(written by R.Springfield)

Bop til you drop in the hot city
keep on working day and night
don't stop til you get what you want
Bop til you drop in the hot city
burn the candle,burn it bright
love will have to wait

You wake up wired and draw on your makeup
and the city breathes
and the city comes to life
Lately it seems your time is all used up
chasing dreams
of money and the good life

But there is something you've been thinking of
lately you're feeling the power of love
everybody says it's so,so hard to hold
the alarm rings
you gotta get up,you gotta get up!

Bop til you drop in the hot city
keep on working day and night
don't stop til you get what you want
Bop til you drop in the hot city
burn the candle,burn it bright
love will have to wait

People say you're the lucky one
but you don't believe it
and you want to stop
and you want to take some time
To search out a feeling and look for a reason
and the flesh is weak
but the spirit is willing

cause' there is something you've been thinking of
lately you're feeling the power of love
everybody says it's so,so hard to hold
the alarm rings
you gotta get up,you gotta get up!

Bop til you drop in the hot city
keep on working day and night
don't stop til you get what you want
Bop til you drop til you sit pretty
burn the candle,burn it bright
love will have to wait

There is something you've been thinking of
lately you're feeling the power of love
everybody says it's so,so hard to hold
the alarm rings
you gotta get up,you gotta get up!

Bop til you drop in the hot city
keep on working day and night

Bop til you drop (bop!)
Bop til you drop (bop!)
Bop til you drop (bop!)

Bop til you drop in the hot city
keep on working day and night

Interesting, for a while he was really huge in the States; the top guy for a while. Probably right before Michael Jackson.

Yeah, I have his first two albums. He was on fire in the early 80's, no doubt about that. "Jessie's Girl" and "Don't Talk To Strangers" were my faves by him.

U know, he's actually reprising that character on GH at the end of the month, I think. From what I've read, it might be a long-term deal. I wonder if he's gonna sing in between surgeries...

Yeah he will be returning to GH on December 2nd. So far its a short term deal, but who knows. He has been wroking Non Stop since 1998, between touring Nonstop and also Recording, he released KARMA in 1999 a Greatest Hits Live CD in 2001 and then SHOCKDENIALANGERACCEPTANCE in 2004 and The Day After Yesterday in 2005 which was an amazing Covers CD. Though RICK may not be Top of the Charts, he is still doing AMAZING material way better than his early work, more acoustic driven and from the heart. And his LIVE shows are amazing too, this Guy Loves his Fans, maybe thats why he has a great Loyal Fan base that makes his Toouring and releases succesful where it matters, screw the charts. But if we wanna talk charts, during the Years of 1981-1985 Rick Scored 17 Top 40 hits, and 4 Multiplatnum Albums, easily putting him a class with 80's Icons like Madonna, Michael, Prince,Bruce and George Michael too, if U count charts.
