Even Sharon Stone will beat MJ to the punch

LOS ANGELES - Sharon Stone has taken a musical turn, co-writing a song to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Stone worked with songwriters Denise Rich, Mark Feist and Damon Sharpe on "Come Together Now," which will be released as a CD single on Nov. 29.

Proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity, which helps needy families build homes, and Angels' Place, a Louisiana charity destroyed in the hurricane that helps terminally ill children.

"Every time this song gets played and every time this song gets bought, we're building houses and we're saving these kids," Stone said.

Celine Dion, Wyclef Jean, Patti LaBelle, Chingy, Joss Stone, The Game and more than a dozen other artists lent their voices to the song, available on iTunes since Oct. 17.

The single will also be part of a compilation album by the four major record labels, "Hurricane Relief: Come Together Now," which includes contributions from Elton John, John Mayer, Barbra Streisand and James Brown.

Stone, who is currently filming "Bobby," about Robert Kennedy, has been writing songs with various collaborators for the past year, she said.

-Funny NO mention of Jackson at all. This is almost like the project MJ thought of...but without MJ. there was a blurb from Joe Jackson today regarding Mikes Residence and that MJ was working (still) on his single for Katrina Victims. The single better be frikin fantastic for all the press it's getting.

? Was Joe (I assume you mean Jacko's dad) saying something about Neverland, by any chance?

I'll stick to my position...he should just save this for next hurricane season!

lol

I agree with you Davideye. I couldn't care less about MJ's song. I read in our local rag the other day that he's working on putting together a "supergroup" with his kids and nieces and nephews. lol What a joke.

Don't get me wrong, I respect MJ as an entertainer from the past, but I'm not the least bit interested in anything he does anymore.

sadly enough, i feel like ole mike is over as chart relevant artist. i think the guy has seen, perpetuated, and gone through so much in the past 10 years, that he will likely live his days out in self-imposed exile while his poor children live an unconventional life in his self-created fantasy world, and the next time he grabs headlines (to the point where we collectively give a damn) will be if something tragic happens to him (knock on wood).... neutral

It's weird, cos this MJ charity single seems to be getting mentioned on this forum more than most MJ forums lol As far as I know it's as good as finished. I don't actually care about it though, and if R Kelly is on it then that's bye bye to my sale.

Oh, that trash about his recording with his kids has been denied by his spokesperson. Besides, Prince was already on the saccharine 'The Lost Children' on Invisible razz

Not sure ...the article said something about Mike will not be going back to Neverland.

I think the point I was making is that we HEAR about the MJ single all over the place...yet it has even to emerge. Funny that everyone else is haveing NO PROBLEMS at all getting their charity single out. Even funnier still that the Sharon Stone project is exactly like the one MJ said he was going to do...yet someone took his idea and did it themselves without MJ nor the fan fare.

nod Yeah, that's it in a nutshell. Personally, I look for news about this single, I'm curious to see what comes of it. wink

If there's anyone on the org who doesn't want to read about it or any other subject for that matter, they can always try my approach: just skip the thread! (A point sos has himself made before, I recall! cool )

Hopefully it doesn't end up "the lost charity song" like "What More I Give."

I'm sure MJ's heart is in the right place but he is three hurricanes late. Plus some earthquakes and riots and stuff.

To put a litte irony in it this year when he was sued in New Orleans with that koo-koo suit he didn't show.

And what label will it be on? If MJ's tries his financial stunts with this Arabian guy they'll bury him up to his nose in oil.
