What I mean by that is; check out Argent's "God Gave Rock and Roll To You". Listen to the bass line and the intro with the organ. Then listen to "Today". Then, listen to Bootsy's "Another Point of View" after you have listened to "Today". Bootsy's bass line is basically the same as "Today", but he just split it up into parts.

"Today" is definately one of my favorites. I love that intro.

I ain't never been too thrilled with his religious relationship with Prince but on the musical side, there's no denying that Larry was definately funky and I give him props for that.

I was first exposed to Larry Graham in the early 1980s with songs like "One In A Million", "When We Get Married", and "Just Be My Lady". With the exception of "Sooner Or Later", I had always thought he was just a balladeer. I used to read articles in the magazines about how his earlier funk fans were pissed with his softer change so I went back and started discovering the funky side of Larry and was impressed.

My fave album is the first one. I just love the way the acapella makes you comfortable then BAM! the funk steps in. I have a lot of fave songs but not sure of the titles. The Mirror album contains several really strong tracks. Ive not got Space Walk or My Radio Sounds Good To Me..are these any good?

My favorites are Water, Mirror,One in a million you, do you wanta dance. Although I dont remember lot of some their songs my dad have a couple of GCS records.

Oh I forgot one more Luckiest people.That song is Da Bomb

a lot of folks don't seem to realize (or are too young to know) the impact larry graham made on electric bass. the thumb-slapping you see so much now from bass players was non-existant before larry. he's one of the most influential (if not THE most) bassist ever.
the hard slap of the side of his thumb against the strings (and the ensuing upstroke guitar-pic-style) was born out of a need for something percussive as an accompliment to his mom's piano in church, being without a drummer. it developed into a style that is not only more copied than any other bass style, but almost a necessity to playing funk. thanks to larry graham, electric bass will never be the same.
