Is this the show where she goes off on L.A. Reid and the recording industry? I know it'll be edited because she used some 4 letter woids... but I hope they show some of it.

Are you KIDDING ME??? First of all, Ashanti didn't open her mouth until halfway through the song.... she literally stood there while Patti sang the song and didn't bother to join in the background singers. She finally opens her mouth to do the easiest part of the song which is half-taked ("New hat!, New Shoes!") Of course Patti drowns her out as usual, but c'mon... that was embarrasing to put Ahsanti on the stage with Miss Patti. They might as well have put Britney Spears up there. BZut you gotta love Patti..... no one can do it like she does [Edited 11/8/05 22:32pm]

Are you KIDDING ME??? no. i don't mean she was "stood up" vocally to Patti. i just meant she sounded decent. and least she sang, unlike previous singers on stage. and didn't sound bad.

god damn, that was a lot of over-singin'.
would be nice, also, if she could deliver just ONE lyric straight. still sounds pretty good though. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

But aren't the VIBE awards for people more entrenced in the Hip Hop community? If that would be the case, the Blige would be the more appropriate artist to award because of her involvement in the whole hip-hop-r&b fusion that started in the early 90's. She was the voice of that pioneering generation which all the young girls after (Ashanti and the rest of 'em) have been biting off of ever since. Don't get me wrong, Patti is a queen among queens in the soul music arena, but she does a different type of music than what represents the young folks who are, well strictly of the VIBE community, I think...

Well, I will admit that she did actually "sing"....when she bothered to open her mouth (which was like 10% of the time she was up there) . I mean she literally stood there and just pranced around while Miss Patti did her thang! But I'm glad she didn't try to front and use a tape. I still only watched the 1st half so far.... so who was lip synching? I actually thought Kelly was singing for real. which was nice, although she should't have even tried to do "Love and Need and Want" but she gets props for effort. It did seem like Nelly's voice was "too good" to be live but I thought maybe they fixed it in post-proudction to make it sound clearer. Who was faking on the stage? [Edited 11/9/05 7:43am]

I didn't enjoy it that much.
Yolanda and Patty sounded amazing, as usual. Everyone else could have stayed home. It was cool to see Sheila, but she didn't get much time to show off. And Boyz II Men ruined my absolute favorite Patty LaBelle song. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
