Was Lou Reed on heroin? Heroin is one of the most famous & controversial rock songs ever. I know Lou had problems with speed in the 70's, but did he do heroin as well? Or was it just pretentious posing during his Velvet Underground days along with White Light/White Heat?
Any insights on this or Lou/the Velvets in general? Check this song out at:

He sings about drugs all the time (Waiting for My Man is a classic). Even Prince has sung about heroin, and I doubt he's done it. But songs like Heroin and Sister Ray sound like someone who's about to explode from intoxication. I wonder if he's acting or what? Check this song out at:

You're a fan of hers, right? What is it about her that you like? Her solo stuff? Her singing? I'm not a fan, but I respect Lou Reed, and he obviously liked her. But then John Lennon liked Yoko... Check this song out at:

But then John Lennon liked Yoko... well, Lou Reed, Jackson Browne, Jimmy Page, John Cale liked her, but they mighta just liked that ass. she also had a weird encounter with Jim Morrison in a hotel..... I like her voice. It has feeling, it's tragic, yet comic, it's as if somone has unwillingly proped her up on stage for no utter reason. I sleep to her music. I'm not sure if this is because of the Cale inflence, who's voice I don't like, but who's classical inflence has a pleasant affect. Nico shouldn't be talking to seriously, though the production done on something like Marble Index is up there with any avantgarde rock album ever made Chelsea Girls is my favorite though. Nico is german chic. [Edited 11/8/05 16:58pm] | |

You say we shouldn't take her too seriously, that makes sense. She's filling a role in the presentation (not to mention she was beautiful, like you said). Meg White is maybe similar. I enjoy hearing her sing, but she's not exactly good. There's something endearing about an average person singing, even if they're singing badly. Check this song out at:
