Mel B.

On British TV this morning it reported that the ex-Spice Girl wants to crack the US market and will be working/wants to work with Prince, Ja Rule and Jay-Z to help her do so. I thought she had already tried this on her first solo album woking with Jam and Lewis, Missy Elliot etc.

Any truth in this?

The inspiration for "Mad Sex" herself is due to star in northern answer to BBC2's "This Life" about some nurses.

I thought she was concentrating solely on TV work now after losing album deal. Perhaps somebody reported out of date news, as she worked with Jam & Lewis, Rodney Jerkins, Missy, Timbaland etc already.

There was cool documentary of her recording album in MPLS.

To be honest though I don't think Prince would touch her (musically speaking) with a bargepole.

Sorry but I hope that Prince will never ever consider working with her. She has NO talent at all and leaches off the success of others.

Well it says on Teletext that The Sun have reported it and he did make half promises to work with her in Beautiful Strange interview. Like someone above said she brings the musical ability to the table of Carmen Elektra, Vanity, Apollonia etc so it's probably not that out of the question.

Although I don't se how Prince carries the influence to make anyone a success these days? Short of a well chosen cover version perhaps...

It was classic when she's sat with Prince during interview and starts talking about her "Musical history" of being summer season dancer at Blackpool Beach. lol

"it dated back to when he met her first time at parties and I assume she tried to get with him. Later of course he requested her to interview him at Paisely.

Some of the evidence:

"Bushy haired mullato (A non-PC defintion of her looks)"
"Stud in your mouth (She has)"
"One nation under your groove (Spice girls mania in UK)"
"Animal prints you flaunt so lovely (Her trademark leopard print outfits)"
"Same damn bird from London (Here I just assume he thought that, as Leeds probably isn't in his geographical brain)
"She always wanna talk to somebody (she's loud)"...

There's others but those are few I can think of now..."

Whether he built it up as fantasy scenario or they actually got it on who knows. Maybe she tried to speak to him but like he says "Still you can't break my cool...".

heres the sun articles text from their website:

Mel and Prince team up
MEL B is relaunching her solo career with the help of PRINCE.

And later this year she will team up with two other Americans – R&B star JA RULE and rapper JAY-Z.

The former Spice Girl hopes she can break into the US market with her high-profile collaborations.

Mel said: “My music aim is to go to America.

“I’m going to start it off in America because I’ve had lots of offers and proposals from people who want to work with me out there.

“One of the people I can confirm I will be working with, which I am really excited about, is Prince.”

Mel insists it was her decision to split from her record company Virgin.

But she blames herself for her lack of success as a solo artist.

She said: “I don’t think I had the right frame of mind and focus for my direction.”
