Transcript of Tito's Segment on Rita Cosby (11-02-2005)

Rita: Tito Jackson has a new album out and scoop on the Jackson family you've not heard. I'll ask him about the rumors that Janet has a baby and what's ahead for him in the music industry. Stay tuned, everyone. Is he still out there?

Rita: That's Tito Jackson's brand-new song. His big break was singing, of course, with his brothers when they were the famous Jackson 5. And now Michael Jackson's big brother is going solo with a new album called "Tito." It'll be coming out early next year. Joining me now "live & direct" is Tito Jackson, the one and the only. Tito, you look terrific. I just read, did you just turn 52? You look fantastic.

Tito: Yes, I did October --

Rita: Are you sure you're not lying? You look great.

Tito: Thank you very much. I had a birthday this --

Rita: Just a few days ago, right?

Tito: Yeah. A couple weeks ago. October 15. Yes.

Rita: How excited are you about going solo?

Tito: I'm very excited, because it's something that i've always wanted to do and all of my siblings have had a solo record at one time or another. And even my sons have had their solo albums. And I feel that it's my turn, so I'm taking my turn now.

Rita: Where did you get the inspiration from?

Tito: Well, it's something that's always been into me, being in showbiz and wanting to do this and not wanting to be a trivia question: Which Jackson never did a solo. I decided I didn't want to be the answer to that. I decided to do a record.

Rita: Will your brothers be involved in anything? Will they be touring?

Tito: I'll ask my brothers to join me on a song. I'll ask my sons as well.

Rita: Will we see Michael?

Tito: I can always ask. I can't answer that right now but I'd love that.

Rita: Speaking of family, you and I talked right when the verdict came down with Michael. It's five months later, how is your family doing?

Tito: We're doing fine. Everyone is back into the swing of things pen and joining life and we're looking forward for the holidays to get together for the celebrations and Michael is doing fine. It's a happy moment.

Rita: It is, there seemed to be a renewed spirit there Michael is living in Bahrain. Have you talked to him? How's he doing? How's he holding up?

Tito: He's doing very good. He's recording and doing songs for the hurricane relief victims. It'll be a great thing.

Rita: Has he been back-and-forth? Is he mostly staying in Bahrain? Sort of who is involved?

Tito: Well, he's been relaxing basically. He's asked some friends to join him on some music. And he's just putting that together for the victims of hurricane Katrina and he's going to be ok.

Rita: How's he doing? He's mostly in London too I understand. Sort of back-and-forth.

Tito: Yes.

Rita: How's he spending his time? I mean, what's he doing these days?

Tito: He's basically relaxing and listening to music and recording music. He's being Michael doing his thing. He's a musical guy. You can't take that out of his life. He's enjoying what he loves to do.

Rita: Is he going to be living permanently in Bahrain as there's been reports from the attorney?

Tito: No, I can't answer that. I don't know the correct answer on that. I'm pretty sure he'll settle wherever he feels more comfortable.

Rita: There's been some other stuff. I have to ask you about Janet Jackson, your sister that she had a child 18 years ago, is that true?

Tito: No, that's not true at all. That's a total rumor. I would have known that one. Me and my brothers, we laugh about it all the time.

Rita: Why did they put it out there? What was that out there -- why was that out there?

Tito: I have no idea. I have no idea whatsoever. I understand my sister raised this kid and the whole thing, but I'm pretty sure I would have known that whole thing and so would a whole lot of other people so that's a total rumor.

Rita: What do you see for the family now? Is this sort of a fresh start? Do you think you guys will always sort of be in the news no matter what?

Tito: We've been doing this for quite sometime. There's always a fresh start. Every day say fresh start in show business. We'll continue to do the great things in music we always have done in the past and that's where we're going.

Rita: How is Michael's family too in support? I know you're really close to him. Is there a sense that the family is closer than ever? Now how are his kids?

Tito: His kids are fine. We've always been a tight-knit family. The support is definitely there as everyone saw across the world. And like I said, Michael is a great guy. He's in great spirit. He'll be ok.

Rita: And are they very excited, I'm sure, for you with you launching your career?

Tito: Yes. I'm very excited about that. Long time coming. And I'm looking forward to hearing myself on the radio and going out performing and doing some great things for the music.

Rita: Well, that's terrific. You have the wonderful Jackson gift, Tito, and the music is beautiful. I'm sure the album will do great.

Tito: Thank you.

Rita: Thank you so much, it's great to have you on.

Tito: Thank you very much. Thank you very much.

Tito actually has had a blues cd out a few years ago that I heard was pretty good...

Janet should go on all the talk shows and deny the baby rumors once and for all.Forget that weak statement that she issued through her publicist,she needs to go on a show like "Access Hollywood" and end this rumor once and for all.She needs to take an aggressive approach,instead of hiding behind a weak statement.She should say:

NO! I did not have a baby 18 years ago,and I wish the DeBarge family would stop spreading this bullshit!! This rumor is FALSE and very hurtful to me and my family.This rumor has persisted for over 20 years,and I'm finally gonna chop this grapevine down,once and for all.I never had a baby and I don't know why some people assume otherwise.But you know what? If these folks keep on spreading these vicious lies,I will have no choice but to file a lawsuit.So,all you people who keep on spreading this nonsense,you have been warned
