"Live to Tell", "Like a Prayer", "La Isla Bonita"... so many other great songs... Technical ability is overrated. I'll take someone that can write a great song over someone that can play great anyday.

Are you saying that Prince and MJ don't write great songs?

No no! Of course not! I'm a big fan of all 3. I'm not comparing Madonna to Prince or MJ.

Just saying that she deserves respect for writing great songs even if she isn't "technically" (in terms of singing, playing or dancing) great. But in terms of songwriting I'd have to say she's top notch!

It just seems like people that have great technical ability automatically get respect... whereas songwriters like Madonna automatically get dissed.

madonna's got her talents. she's a good performer and she knows how to get attention and be interesting. i think she's one of the last true students of the warhol "superstar" school.

nod Except if she would have been part of that scene, she'd have eventually usurped Andy, taken over the Factory and somehow figured-out how to market it to middle America. lol

well, she kinda was around for the very end of it all...she was a friend of keith haring's and she dated jean michel basquiat, and this was all during the time when both of them were shit-hot. warhol was right in the middle of that whole early '80s art scene in NYC, and madonna was certainly well known in that scene at the time.

in his published daires he mentions Madonna several times. He attended her's and Sean's wedding and insipred her U Can Dance jackets on the Who's That Girl Tour
You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

not in the same incarnation as it was during its glory days. by the end of his life, 'the factory' (d)evolved pretty much into offices.

you shouldn't compare them anyway since they are very different artists

Prince is a musician, Madonna is a performer and part time composer

MJ is a cross between the two, hanging on to past glory for dear life.
