bawl

we should hold a funeral for it on here or something...and this reminds me of the gemini turntable i spotted at my usual vinyl-diggin haunt that's for sale for like $80. only thing wrong with it is that one of the little feet on the bottom of it is broken, otherwise it plays fine. sad thing about that is that the store might be either closing or moving pretty soon...hopefully it don't close, because i love that store to death. it'd break my lil' vinyl geek heart if it closed.

30 years maybe more. It's taken a beating too. I schlepped that thing around for years to all the gigs...And my son kidnapped it about 15 years ago when he was learning to scratch...and when it went out the door...I thought it would never survive. But he returned it a few years later and it's as good as new. Back then Technique was KING.

man...i wish i had a technics. i see 'em from time to time but they're usually kinna expensive (the ones i find are used)...

i got a jinky sherwood st-880 that i bought from a friend whose record store i used to moonlight at...in fact, that's the very thing that got me to work at that store, the dude was amazed by the fact that someone my age was so interested in vinyl.

then again, i can't call it "jinky"...dunno how old it is, but it runs pretty sweet.

well...if you've adjusted the anti-skate dial... and weights...and ahem...check to see that the wax you are spinning isn't an old test pressing with the center hole off center. I've had that happen before.

You must be able to find another tone-arm assembly to replace.

Actually, Sherwood's are pretty good units, the one you have wasn't their best model but it's still good. And unless you plan on Djing or doing mixes there's many brands out there that are just as good if not better than a 1200. People tend to romantize over them because of their history, but most audiophiles will tell you it's just a bunch of hype. nod
