Ashlee Simpson - The Supporters Thread

I like Ashlee Simpson.

There I said it. And I ain't ashamed of it either. Enjoying her new album immensely. No guilty pleasure here.

I can't believe some of the reviews I've read of her new album. You'd think the girl killed the Pope by the way some of these critics go at the poor girl.

Who hasn't made at one point in their life? Let's remember...this is a what? 21 year old girl? Cut her some slack. She's still a kid. Besides, I think her "punishment" was severe enough.

As a wise lady once said....

"You live you learn, you love you learn
You cry you learn, you lose you learn
You bleed you learn, you scream you learn
You grieve you learn, you choke you learn
You laugh you learn, you choose you learn
You pray you learn, you ask you learn
You live you learn"

lol @ this post having zero replies and views.

Anyway, I think people are basically jumping on a trend by dissing her. No one was dissing her until it became the "in" thing. Most people listen to artist who always lip synch. It's hilarious when Britney and Janet fans diss her for lip synching.

I couldn't make out what she was saying.

Was she insulting the McDonald's cashier?

If that's the case, I change my mind. I hate drunk cunts.

Well, then let her grow up outside the public view. You know, become a musician without the TV cameras and the cashflow present. Send demos to record labels, starve and sleep in mouldy hostels like the rest of us have done.

but i'm serious as a heart attack. i think ashlee simpson is the perfect profile of what we have to look forward to in pop music if nobody comes along to shake things up. i'm not saying it's a good thing. i'm just saying.

You're probably right! smile

Popular music is an uninspiring and sterile product nowadays... hrmph

There was a time when we didn't have to feel ashamed of listening to 'pop'... sigh

What exactly is the problem here?

She has a good voice, co-writes her material, and most of her songs have a strong pop hook.

Stop shitting on the chick. So what if she got a free pass through the door. Janet Jackson anyone?

Why is everyone so obsessed with Joe Jackson around here? Ugh.

BTW, the similarities between Janet and Ashlee are a bit uncanny when you think about it...

- Both got a free ride into the music industry thanks to their successful sibling.
- Both have a "Papa Joe".
- Both don't have the strongest live singing voice.

janet has stage presence, and she paid her dues from the time she was a little girl by doing as much sitcom work as she did. janet may not be a great singer, but she is indeed a great performer. ashlee wouldn't know stage presence if it bit her on the ass-implant.

No doubt that Janet is far superior in every way possible, however, you have to admit the similarities/coincidences are there.

Hey...could this mean Ashlee Simpson is the second coming of Janet Jackson?

nuts

Not sure if things are going to shake anytime soon. But I think that music will change soon. Just like the reality TV phenom going down the drain. People get tired of junk. ANd when they get tired of Junk, they'll stop buying it.

I think that the reason music is in the state it is...is because of money. I fyou have money these days, you can be what ever you want to be...even a pop star. All these Ashlees, Paris', Jessicas, etc. they have money to back them up and put out what ever they want. If you pony up enough cash radio and stores will carry whatever. Eventually, no one will be buying them and they won't bother to waste thier money in that corner of the Fame Market.

Another issue is the record label insistance that the public only wants these artists, when it clearly is CRYING out for something decent. And a decent way to get the music. The industry actually FIGHTS with the public on all fronts...instead of embracing the people that support the music. They also don't support the artists they really should like Fiona Apple or even Prince for that matter. And until they go back to supporting the artist and not someone(s) who is just a performer and entertainer. I mean they have a place in music...but they are not the end all be all of music. WHen an Ashlee Simpson Album gets more exposure than say a Jill Scott or ANita Baker or Stevie Wonder...because of the money that pushes it...it says a lot.
