Isn't strange... and maybe even a little sad that songs that used to be considered the height of danger and rebellion are now being used to sell soap and diet products? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!" | |

For example,
Rock Around the Clock, a song that once incited riots -is now used in children's programming. After years of hearing it on kiddie records and Sesame Street, I only learned when I was 16 that it was a "real" song. The music of KISS has been used to promoted Special K, Iggy Pop's work a cruise line, Rolling Stones for Coca-Cola, AC/DC a local adult contemporary radio station, T-Rex, Prince, and others in car commercials.... the list goes on. Some a better example than others, true. But is this just a reflection of society's changing values; a nod to the aging fanbases who long ago gave up sex, drugs, and rock n roll for mortgages, SUV's, and 2.5 kids, or does it illustrate how money really does make the world go 'round?
