"Secret Lovers" by Atlantic Starr This is such a great song. I'm listening to an old collection by them.
I can't believe how many different girl singers they had over the years: Barbara Weathers, Rachel Oliver, Porscha Martin, and Sharon Bryant . [Edited 11/3/05 16:40pm]

OOOH. "Secret Lovers" was a GOOD one!!!
But no matter how many singers they had, they always made it work and they gave us some serious slow jams, didn't they (smile)? ....you know, you're about to make me log off & go look for one of those compilation slow music cds I have with their songs on it...

They definitely had some really good songs: "Circles", "Always", "One Lover At A Time", "Masterpiece", "Freak-a-ristic", 'When love calls", etc.

Good song, but "Touch A 4 Leaf Clover" is my jam. The bass line is crazy in the joint. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I had the BIGGEST crush on Barbara Weathers - what happened to her? Last I heard she had been engaged to one of the co-lead singers, who, rumor has it, had a habit of dating the female singers.
I remember seeing her on Video Soul, promoting her solo album. Haven't seen or heard her since then... My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

Some folks don't like their more pop-oriented stuff, but of their big crossover ballads, this is their best. Great lyrics and storytelling. It did well in one 4-minute song what R Kelly can't accomplish in a 22 "chapter" song. And as Anx said...it's kinda fun (sometimes) to hear others sing along badly to it.

this is one of those songs i loved when it 1st came out, then got tired of it being "everyone's song". it's a classic. have not heard it in sometime, so i'm sure i'd love it all over again.

I fucking HATE that song w/ a passion Some of the most overplayed shit of the time. It was cool then but they wore it out so fast, I simply can't stand to hear it

I hated that song from day one and the fact that they wore it out made me hate it even more. Andy is a four letter word.

I love Atlantic Starr, but I never liked "Secret Lovers".It's too pop-ish sounding, which is probably why it became such a huge crossover hit.Their earlier singles ("Touch A Four Leaf Clover","Send For Me","Let's Get Closer"...basically all their singles before 1985) are warm and soulful. Then in the mid-80s,they went pop

I'd argue that "Always" is the best of their pop crossover hits. And I also like their 1992 song "Masterpiece",which was their final hit record.

After awhile,it became almost comical (lol);with each new album, there was a new female vocalist.I remember Barbara Weathers took over when Sharon left, but that lasted only two albums. When they released the 'We're Movin Up' album in 1989,they had a new vocalist....when they released their 'Love Crazy' album in 1992,there was yet another new vocalist....in 1994,they released another album and there was another new female singer, lol. Somewhere, out there,I'm sure they're still doing their thing, with yet another new female vocalist.
