Janet doing a new movie From today's Variety....
Aaron Woodley will be directing Tennessee, the up-coming film for producer Lee Daniels (Monster's Ball, The Woodsman), starring Martin Henderson (The Ring, Bride & Prejudice), Macaulay Culkin (Home Alone, Saved!) and Janet Jackson. The film will be shooting in New Mexico and Tennessee in March, 2006, and will follow the story of two brothers on a road trip in search of their estranged father. There are rumors that her weight gain is specifically for this role. She is apparently playing a waitress in the midwest. [Edited 11/4/05 16:05pm]

Wow...
This is certainly unexpected news. Me likes...me likes... I guess we can count on MJ being at the premiere for sure since the godfather of his kids (Mac) and his sister are gonna be in the same movie. BTW, did anyone see that FOX special "MJ's Private Home Movies" in 2003 which showed video footage of MJ, Janet, Mac, and others having a water fight at Neverland? Cute stuff.

Can she really get the abs back? Not that she needs them....it just can't be heatlthy going from overweight to buff and cut like that over and over.

[Edited 11/4/05 15:21pm] You've become such a hater since you turned into a Madonna fam, Vinny The album was never scheduled for late 2005, always March 2006 (Control's 20th anniversary) at the earliest. I do not know what will happen. [Edited 11/4/05 15:42pm]

She was on Good Times, A New Kind of Family, Diff'rent Strokes, and Fame before she became a singer. She has not embarrassed herself in her film roles. I'm sorry, but I don't see what she has to "prove" - unless you want her to tackle a hard dramatic part like Swept Away

Poetic Justice was a good start but I personally dont think she has proven herself as a good actress. She was serviceable as the "girl" in that Nutty Prof. film...but i look forward to her totally engulfing herself into a role and "become" someone else. Space for sale...

janet needs to be dating this brotha:
this is one smart producer...shadowboxer sounds real interesting...hellen mirren and cuba gooding jr? hmmm.. When Rose (mirren), a female assassin, is diagnosed with terminal cancer; she decides to carry out one final killing, assisted by lover and also stepson, Mickey (gooding). an early review from imdb: I just saw this film in the directors cut version on Friday night. I have to say I really enjoyed it. Lee Daniels was at the screening and it was a screening for the investors so nobody was going to pull punches because they had money involved. It took a little while to get into the plot but I was totally sucked in after a while. It will supposedly be released in December and hopefully won't be cut down too much. There were some sex scenes that will probably go because some people in this country can't handle it, but nothing that I felt was gratuitous or just sex for the sake of showing some nudity. Some may also find the violence objectionable but nothing close to SinCity or any war movie ever made. I hope the film does well and the public enjoys it. Who cares what the industry has to say. They promote absolute garbage with a full wallet all the time. Check this one out and form an opinion for yourself. Space for sale...

Yes she is. She's definitely got chops and a natural presence in front of the camera. She just needs more roles. I don't think The Clumps is a good gauge of ANYBODY'S talent. She's just been away from it for too long. I'm surprised she wasn't taking roles left and right after the success of PJ.

Her speaking voice. It's just so thought out and and enunciated. She always sounds like she's reading cue cards. Think about it, when she's basically played herself (Desperately Seeking Susan or Who's That Girl?), she's not bad. When she does dramatic parts in videos (Oh Father, Papa Don't Preach, Bad Girl), she's likeable and believeable. She was good in Evita cuz there was basically no talking. It's that damn voice that gets in the way! Same problem with Keanu Reaves. He might be an okay actor if it wasn't for that totally dopey, shallow voice of his. I think if she EVER tries to attempt a major role again, she needs to work with a coach who can loosen her up and give her a more natural way of speaking and presenting her lines. It's just too comical to hear her say "That's what men do...men lie," from Body of Evidence. How can you take her seriously! For her, it's not for lack of screen presence or charisma or emotion. Somebody should tell her it's her voice and delivery.

JA: What is going to be your next film?
Lee Daniels: I’m producing a film called Tennessee. It’s a about a young boy and his relationship with his brother. They both come from an abusive father and decide to run away. The young boy finds out that he is dying of cancer and has to go back to his father for a bone marrow transplant and deals with the irritated father. We are in the preproduction stages. David Cronenberg’s nephew, Aaron Willy, is the director. He’s brilliant. This the best part of the filmmaking process for me. I love to research, look at and study directors then match them up with a particular story [Edited 11/4/05 20:01pm]

And "Exhale" was nothing to sneeze at. "Cinderella" and "The Preacher's Bride" or whatever where fluff, so that would be a draw....
