was Prince very, very influenced by Bowie? I hear some resemblances.. He's mentioned Bowie on many occasions, but rarely in a musical sense. But their career archs have been VERY similar in places. Especially their first decade.

Hola Gangsta!!! Not off the top of my head. I remember Prince going on about Bowie a lot during his artistic freedom discussions. At one point, he wanted artists like Bowie and himself to start up an artists' rights collective where they act as mentors to newer acts and fight for what's theirs. I remember him bitching about folks like Bowie and REM owning their masters because they're white at some point too. Hey you!

Bowie dvds? Any good ones? to me, the essential ones are the "best of bowie" video anthology and "a reality tour" live DVD. those will keep you happy for a very long time. ...and besides...there are several (7?) hidden videos as well on the 'best of bowie' - DVD (4 example the longstory video of Blue Jean (15 min ..I think). I'm very into watching music.

The Man Who Sold The World Diamond Dogs Aladin Sane Station to Station Low Scary Monsters there are so many. basically, anything from 1970 to 1980, ya can't go wrong. 80s material? kinda dodgy, to say the least. 90s? strong comeback, but some of it could take some getting used to. 2000s? when you've checked out all the older stuff, you'll appreciate the new stuff that much more. he's mellowing very gracefully. Yep. "Let's Dance" was his best 80's album. He should have worked with Niles again. I also dig Tin Machine. Cool band line-up. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. I would say "Scary Monsters" is his best 80's album, but I never think of it being from the 80's. I always lump it in with his previous stuff. And he did work with Niles again on "Black Tie White Noise" with imo even better results. There were rumors they were going to team up as recent as last year.
