Z Cult Fave/Science Fiction/ Double Feature This is a wonderful song from a great, great soundtrack from a great, great film. Written and performed by Richard O'Brien, this song evokes Bowie's "Space Oddity" and "All The Young Dudes"(Mott), but even more so, The Kinks "Celluloid Heroes". It has the same theme and feel. Many of the songs from Rocky Horror are brilliant;
The Time Warp (basically The Sweet"s "Ballroom Blitz") Over At The Frankenstein's Place (a Pink Floyd vibe) Super Heroes (another Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon vibe) I'm Coming Home (DEFINATELY Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here") You all know about how Mick jagger wanted Tim Curry's part when they decided to make it a film. And Bowie himself went several times to see the play in London. Who out there digs this soundtrack? SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Carole King is credited to being the first to actually come dressed as one of the characters from the show. She went every night while the show had it's run at The Roxy in Hollywood. Elvis, Mick and Bowie were regulars as well at The Roxy during the play's run. How many times have ya'll seen the film? SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I've seen it 4 or 5 times. It's like nothing else I've seen. The soundtrack is one of the best. I've always wondered what exactly they intended with the film/play. Just what it was, or something different?
Tim Curry's performances is one of the greatest of all time. Check this song out at:

Tim Curry's performances is one of the greatest of all time. I agree on Tim. He totally lost himself in character just like Pacino did in Scarface. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I saw it twice, at a couple of midnight shows in DC,(the Key Theater, in Georgetown, used to show arthouse cinema), back in the early 80's...bizarre, but we had a ball! water guns, people throwin' rice, dancing in the aisle, all kindza shit! ... I was part of a cast for about 6 months back in '94. Time of my life, no doubt. And yeh, the soundtrack is CLASSIC. Keep your headphones on.

bowie came dangerously close to playing frank n. furter, but thankfully they stayed with tim curry, who in my opinion OWNS that role. i'm sorry, i'm as big a bowie fan as they come, but it woulda been a shame to have ziggy furter over good ol' frank.
i saw the broadway revival with joan jett and dick cavett, and while it really was an amazing production and it did make you stop making comparisons for a while, i couldn't help but feel sorry for the guy playing frank. he was no tim curry. nobody could be.

The funniest show I saw had only about ten people in the audience. They tried to make the virgins do crazy things--girls sucking whipped cream out of condoms that guys held by their crotches--and everyone was basically "hell, no!"
Then when folks started throwing bread & toilet paper, this lady took the roll of toilet paper and shouted at the person who threw it, then stormed out of the theater with her friends! Obviously didn't know about Rocky Horror tradition! Check this song out at:

Me, I've seen it in a theatre about 80 times. I started going when I was in Jr. High. I was in drama class in Jr. High and High school, so we went all the time. I have it on VHS and DVD. I can't count how many time I've watched it at home. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

LOVE IT!!!!! I love the whole glam vibe of the soundtrack, and within the movie itself. I used to know all the audience responses, but I've forgotten half of it now. Favorite songs are: Science Fiction/Double Feature Sweet Transvestite Eddie (great 50s sound) Hot Patootie - Bless My Soul (about the only time I like Meatloaf Rose Tint My World (the intro reminds me of the Stones) I'm Going Home Super Heroes and the Science Fiction reprise And you're right about the Pink Floyd similarities. I had never thought about it before, but NO WONDER I love this soundtrack! The end of "Superheroes" is EXACTLY the beginning of "The Show Must Go On" from The Wall. Come to the lab, and see what's on the slab!
A true Cult Classic.I have this on DVD & I watch it at least once a year.Has anybody seen the "sequel", Shock Treatment?I've read that Barry Bostwick,Susan Surandon, & Tim Curry declined to particpate in this film.I remember seeing it once on the USA channel many years ago & not being very impressed especially when comparing it to RHPS. ![]()

We were Rocky Horror fanatics, so she tracked this one down, bought it, and it became yet another one we knew by heart. I haven't seen it in ages though. It's really weird. Shock Treatment BLOWS!! As far as Bowie, I think he would have made a good Riff Raff. But, no way would I want him to replace Richard. Richard's the brains behind this whole thing. To write it and to do a fantastic job with the music, nah. There was simply no place for Bowie. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
