His song "Friends" from the early 90s was a big hit with my Christian frineds at the time.

Packing up the dreams God planted
In the fertile soil of you
Can’t believe the hopes he’s granted
Means a chapter in your life is through
But we’ll keep you close as always
It won’t even seem you’ve gone
’cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

Chorus:
And friends are friends forever
If the lord’s the lord of them
And a friend will not say never
’cause the welcome will not end
Though it’s hard to let you go
In the father’s hands we know
That a lifetime’s not too long to live as friends.

With the faith and love god’s given
Springing from the hope we know
We will pray the joy you’ll live in
Is the strength that now you show

But we’ll keep you close as always
It won’t even seem you’ve gone
’cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

Chorus

Yeah, thats off the album I listed at the top.

Played that song, didn't think much of it, but it'll grow on me proberly. The obvious christian overtones he has is fine with me. Surprised someone has heard of him. I tend to forget how big religious music is over in USA, though mr smith is not heavy handed thank god lol He is very pop

That shitty "Friends" song is from the mid 80's. He re-recorded it in the 90's to get some commercial appeal. He's a pretty face who is a decent song -writer but can't sing worth a shit.

I have 2 say I found several songs of his quite inspirational. "Somebody Love Me", "Give It Away", "I Will Be Here For You", and the one he sings with Amy Grant ("Somehow, Someway", or something like that). Beautiful songs that somehow struck a chord with me.
Don't hate me 'cause I'm NOT beautiful

A couple of his songs are probably part of the soundtrack to the cheesier moments of my childhood. Particularly, "I Will Be Here for You", which I might still enjoy on a day when I'm kinda sad or depressed. But for the most part, I would probably be embarrassed to admiting that I liked him wink Becuase dude is pretty frickin' cheesy when you get right down to it. Like, worse than 80s Chicago cheesy!

I love 80's chicago cheese. I could ponder for all night why i love cheese, i think it may be because its not pretentious in anyway. U know as soon as the song starts where its gonna go. "i will be here for you" is great if feeling low, and sometimes i feel pretty low lol
