No, it wasn't. "Thriller" wasn't even the first long-form music home video. Not by a long shot.

Voices, please, ur making this more complicated then it is. "thriller", as far as i know, was the first major homevideo release of a music video. Creating giant revenues etc.... it was another marketing tool. Janet did the same.

You really need to check out the long-form music home video releases by Blondie, Olivia Newton-John and several other major stars - before Jacko. Ok? Thanks.

Never seen homevideos of them. Thats the major thing here. Jacko made loads outta the homevideo of thriller. Janet saw this and did the same. Jacko was not the first to make these videos, but was the first to utilize that u could put this onto a homevideo, with a documentary which janet also included on hers.

Stop spouting stupid ish trying to defend your "point". lol

ONJ had an entire television special for her long-form video, which was then released on home video. So don't talk stupid bullshit about MJ inventing the marketing of the form - just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it didn't exist! Learn to expand your knowledge. And MJ wasn't the first to make a documentary, either. disbelief

Jesus, voices, all i meant was she obviously looked at thriller and decided to go down that route aswell. I never said mike was the first for a doc either, but the way both mikes were on his homevideo and janets doc was on hers is pretty strange dont u think?

Oooh, yeah, sexofit, I also find it an eerie coincidence that many movies contain something known as "film footage". Totally creeps me out - it's as if there's some sort of intentional plagiarism goin' on theah.

Voices, ur going overboard. U know i cant argue with u. Its true u do know alot more then me about everything proberly.

But i gotta say that Janet never, even thought about thriller and its impact it had, when she did her 1814 thing is pretty hard to beleive.

No, but that doesn't make it a rip-off. Maybe if she was doin' the Miss You Much dance in ghoul makeup, you'd have a point. lol

First long-form VHS: Blondie - Eat To The Beat (1979) http://imdb.com/title/tt0255133/

They also released a Best Of Blondie compilation in the 1981 in the UK.

ONJ also released a long-form video in early 1982 to support the Physical LP.

And I didn't say that MJ wasn't the first to include a doco (I'm not sure about it, though). I said he was not the first to make a documentary. thesexofit was acting like media forms are copyrightable. wink

voices, i said the concept was the same, not the content.

It sucks, i looked for pics of the excerpt i did online. Seems janet fans really couldn't care less about the project.

Most Janet fans own this video. It has not been released on DVD. I think you really are out of the loop about it because it wasn't released between 1991 and 1993 wink It is a classic, like Thriller.

P.S. It stole a lot of its imagery from Aliens, including the shots of the elevator shaft.

Yep, i saw that. As i said, its very contrived and cliche

but as i explained, its pretty unusual as its so over the top witht the shooting of bj and all. Its so corny. I love it.

Well, I will let your criticism slide because you have genuine affection for the contrived & corny, and you aren't using it as a put-down. biggrin

(can i post now lol )

Ok, i forgot what i wrote (sure it was crap) but if its cliche or not, it should not spoil a viewers enjoyment of said movie.

I really hate the media sometimes. Over-anaylsing films is so pointless. Luckily "1814" took little effort to construct an arguement about the sound being interesting. As i stated about, its quite unusual.

I gotta see the 14 min "2 legit to quit" video. Thatwas awesome too. Surprise surpise, that came with a big documentary. lol

yeah, i'd say she's wide enough at this point for you to do an entire presentation from atop her.
