Somebody recommend some funk from the 1960s. I know it existed because Booker T and The MGs and Jr. Walker and the All Stars were definately funky.

What would be considered FUNK in that period is probably buried within the 60s R&B list.

Until JB broke bad around '64, you didn't even know to call it FUNK. wink

Outside of James Brown, i'm sure Dyke and The Blazers, Wilson Pickett, Booker T and a lot of things coming out of STAX would qualify.

I was born in '72. I connect immediately to 70's music, as I think a lot of folks connect to music of the time they were born/early childhood.

But 60's music is more mystical to me once I get into it. It's the birth of rock--artsy rock that is. And I can't relate to those times because I wasn't alive then. It's like a mystery to me.

Audience, wasn't Kinks' Lola 1970?

falloff It's true. My disclaimer (cuz I felt like I needed one for all the shit I got over it lol) is that I didn't like any version of that song until the past few years. I like Marvin & Tammi's vocals better, but I prefer the production on Ms. Weave's more. It's all dramatic and stuff.
