What a fabulous thread ~ exactly my time frame. The Sam Cooke songs hold especially great memories. I remember coming home from school and babysitting for my four younger brothers and sisters. I would dance them all around the house to American Bandstand and later Soul Train. It would keep them happy and tired out and I got to dance my heart out! I'll add Along Comes Mary by The Association. My friend and I stayed up all night once a little um ~ enhanced~ and interpreted the lyrics. I would place it about 1966 or 67. And you can't leave Joni Mitchell out!!! Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran | |
