I'm a fan of their live discs.
On another note, I rented a Neil Peart drum lesson dvd and it really gave me some insite on how they create music. Very formula-like, mathmatically built, I guess I should have known from being a fan my whole life but it turned me off. | |

IMHO, "Exit Stage Left" is their best album. I also like their later albums, particularly "Hold Your Fire," though I don't think they're as good as the earlier material. I haven't been paying attention to them for awhile...are they still together as a group? Can we anticipate another album someday? I'm curious about Neil's books, I'd like to check one of them out but haven't gotten around to it.  "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Neil Peart, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson Fuck the Police and I mean the band.
Exit...Stage Left is like a greatest hits my favorite is Signals, if only for subdivions. Moving Pictures is a typical response, but that album, though overplayed is amazing. | |

Moving Pictures IS a typical repsonse, but it was the one to be made. Geddy's best work, in my opinion. If I could only have one Rush disc, it would be Exit..Stage Left, I suppose. But it was not in my response because, as you say, its a greatest hits album, and live one at that. The Exit..Stage Left album cover is great, however. I like Hemispheres too, even if it is a bit Magic the Gathering-style geeky.a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on | |

great musicians Funny ya'll talkin' 'bout Rush (who I love) and I'm going to see a Rush tribute band tomorrow called Grace Under Pressure in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Seen them before and damn they're good. Any orgers in the area org note me, we'll hang out. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way. | |

The only albums i really know by them are Moving Pictures, Exit Stage and 2112. Out of those three i'd have to go with 2112, i was just learning how to play guitar (and smoke pot) when i was introduced to that album. i could relate to the story of the guy discovering the guitar for the first time. Exit stage Left was cool until they got up to that tree in the forest track!  | |

They did like the lasers. Also the video screen, which they started taking adavantage of long before it was an arena rock mainstay. At their early-mid 80's shows, they used to play a video clip with Second City's Eugene Levy as a vampire. I can't remember what song it introduced, but it was pure comedy. And there was the Bob and Doug McKenzie thing. They get slagged for being Comic-con fanboy faves (and for Geddy's less than stellar voice), but they were smart for their time, they were (are) bad ass musicians, and they never took themselves too seriously. eh? [Edited 11/5/05 0:50am] That song is on the Grace Under Pressure tour video. I can't remember what song it is either. It was suppose to be in 3-d (that song) because in the video the dracula character tells everyone at the concert to put on their 3-d glasses. That would've been cool. I like everyones's choices but what about A farewell to Kings and Permanent Waves? I think those are incredible albums! Also as far as the newer stuff, Test for Echo was also great. IMO. The hardest they've rocked in years, at the point. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way. | |

I can't stand Rush! I'm so sick of his blowhard, pill-popping ass telling me that women belong in the bedroom barefoot and pregnant, blacks should go back to Africa, gays should....oops, that's that other Rush. Oh, you mean the band from Canada, right? They're awesome! Grace Under Pressure is a highly underrated album, and Neal Pert is the best drummer ever. It's amazing to me how three people managed to make such a huge sound in progressive arena rock.

Almost fell out of my seat laughing! reminder to any Rush fans in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area, tonight Rush tribute band Grace Under Pressure will be playing at Checkerz at 10:00. They are really good. Not to be missed. They only do 2 or 3 shows a year in this area. Shame, they should tour around, they're that good. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way. | |

i am a HUGE Rush fan.
I'm not big on 70's Rush - i prefer Geddy's voice when it wasn't quite so shrill. Favorite album hands down is "Moving Pictures" Some of my favorite tracks: Resist The Pass Bravado Subdivisions Presto Red Sector A (especially live!) Least favorite album is Hold Your Fire - could never get into that one. I always thought the production sounded really cheesy. | |
