David Lee Roth named as one of Howard Stern's replacements

I don't know if this was posted already, and whether it should be in this forum, but I thought I'd share for anyone who cares. biggrin

By Katy Bachman, Mediaweek

The long wait for Howard Stern's replacement on 27 stations owned by Infinity Broadcasting ended today (Oct. 25). Splitting its morning strategy by regions, the company has named former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth to take over Stern's slot in New York on WXRK-FM and other East Coast markets, while TV personality Adam Carolla will host mornings in Los Angeles on KLSX-FM.

Stern begins his new deal with Sirius Satellite Radio in January. His last Infinity broadcast will be Dec. 16.

Roth's show will also air on WBCN-FM Boston (where he cut his broadcasting teeth earlier this year in preparation for the new gig), KLLI-FM Dallas, WYSP-FM Philadelphia and WRKZ-FM Pittsburgh.

Carolla's show will air on KIFR-FM (formerly KEAR-FM) San Francisco, KPLN-FM San Diego, KZON-FM Phoenix, KUFO-FM Portland, Ore., and KXTE-FM Las Vegas. Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will serve as creative consultant for "The Adam Carolla Show," make guest appearances and serve as an advisor to Infinity.

Also joining Infinity's morning lineup is Penn Jillette, one-half of the entertainment duo Penn & Teller. Beginning in January, Jillette will host a one-hour live radio show on Infinity's stations in New York, Chicago, San Francisco (KIFR), Washington, D.C., Detroit, San Diego, Baltimore and Las Vegas.

Not all Infinity stations that carried Stern will get a Stern replacement, such as KITS-FM San Francisco. The modern rock station known as Live 105 will launch the Morning Music Co-op, an entertainment-based program featuring alternative music with listener-call-ins and minimal commercial interruption.

I rarely listen to Stern, but I was pretty surprised to hear this. I had no idea he was even being considered for it.

I'd rather have Dave on the West Coast.

Adam's alright, but he is overexposed.

Howard has mentioned it a few times.
Supposedly he had some of DLR's "rehearsal tapes" he was threatening to play. smile

Not on a regular basis.

I've got a fairly long commute in the mornings so i'll generally scan past KLSX and see what's going on.

If it's something really stupid, i'll keep going. Most days, I keep going. smile

I haven't listened to it in ages. I used to back when I still drove. (I haven't driven in over 7 years. lurking ) I distinctly remember the last time I listened to it and he had this woman on who was the World Champion of "pussy farts" or "queefing". His words, not mine. disbelief

I mean, NOTHING ever grosses me out, but this was actually too much for me so early in the morning. lol I really couldn't believe they were even discussing it. ill

Of course, the woman then went on to demonstrate her skill, and that's when I had to turn it off. lol

I listen to Howard almost every morning. Since Janet Jackson's Super Bowl performance, the FCC have made the rules on obscenity even tougher so queefing on the air has been pretty much a no-no the last few years. Even farting has to be cut out if it goes on too long. It drives Howard crazy.

lol Yeah I heard they were cracking down on him, but I haven't listened to the show in years. I have however, watched the TV show recently. You know how he always has girls on there that want to be "rated" by him and his panel of "experts"? disbelief Why any woman would want to purposely put themselves through that is beyond me. confused But then I have to laugh when they get insulted because they were stupid enough to go on the show in the first place. err

The TV show is even stricter than the radio show. The words 'homo' and 'lesbo' always get bleeped out on TV.

Yeah, I can imagine it would be more strict. Even if it is on cable, which really means nothing. They still cut everything out of movies on cable. Sometimes though, I wonder how South Park (love it btw) gets away with what it does. lol Because it's a cartoon? hmmm

Maybe. South Park comes on earlier here in the states than the Stern show so it's not because of the time slot. I read that South Park will be edited for syndication on regular TV. Just like 'Sex And The City'.

Yeah, which will make it lame. neutral They'll have to cut out a LOT.

He sounds like he's been a dj for 20 years. Not one I want to listen to, but professional.

Ever seen that SNL skit with Jimmy Fallon as the morning deejay? "AND WE'RE BAAAAACKKKKK! 5:25 IN THE AM WITH YOUR Z CREW!!! Z 100!!!!!" That's Dave. Just what you want in the early morning.

Uhh, how many jobs does Adam Corolla have??? confused lol

I dig Adam on Loveline, I guess I might flip it on if I'm ever up that early (usually not) but he is getting a bit overexposed. Loveline, the TLC show, the Comedy Central show... does he still do voices for that puppet phone call show? (is that shit even still on? Crank Yankers?).

GLAD I don't have to endure David Lee Roth ill

I may get up on some sattelite radio, Howard can be pretty interesting @ times... & fucking childish lol but I like having him as an option. Wonder what time he'll broadcast the actual "show" - it's his channel, so will he re-air it @ a later time in the day? That would be cool cool
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

Adam Corolla's new show is so weak. He had Seth McFarlane on the show (Insanely talented creator and voice actor for Family Guy and American Dad from my home state of CT) and he ran outta stuff to talk about, so he had Seth read from the phone book. The phone book. Why do you even have a job, let alone eight? I swear, if it wasn't for titties and the Man Show Boy askin people those fucked up questions, I wouldn't have a clue who Adam was. At least Jimmy Kimmel has cool music.
