Vagina says I wanna know why Prince doesn't have a star on Hollywood's walk of Fame. When Controversy was around Eileen had all the fans contribute funds to pay for the Star. Well he didn't get it cause Hollywood said he didn't fit in to their idea of fame or something or other. Well if Prince doesn't deserve a 100 Stars who does? Purple Rain may be over but the man is a Genius and A legend! Come on FAMS let's get him his due already! Ozzy just got one and he can't even speak from all the drugs anymore. He may be cool also but he isn't Prince! I want Prince to get that star already. Don't you agree that it's long overdue? What can be done about it? Come On FAMS!!!

I remember the big push some years ago to get his star and the one thing that I beleive killed it was in order to get a star you have to be there during the ceremony and they couldn't guarantee him attending. Prince doesn't have a star on HOllywood Blvd because Prince doesn't WANT one. I think he said so himself (don't quote me on that) Besides, you all should know how Prince feels about "idolatry". A big ceremony for a star on the walk of fame is nothing BUT idolatry, and Prince wouldn't go for that, even if he DOES deserve it. (which he does)

its quite easy to answer your question. they have a very strange idea who qualifies. it took them 40 years (!) to give James Brown his well earned star --- in february 1996, to honor the anniversary of his first single "please please please". same thing will happen to prince. he will get it for sure, one day. either when he's very old and still cool and they want to give respect to his musical legacy, or when he's dead end every body cries that he didnt get the respect he deserved during hsi life time.

What was said earlier regarding the requirements r correct, as far as I know...but let me add:

U have 2 b nominated by someone on the comittee

U have 2 accept the nomination

U have 2 b willing 2 foot the bill for the star and the placement (it's somewhere around 4 grand these days). Usually, the artist's fan club or label will pay the bill on the artist's behalf.

U have no say as 2 where the star is placed, and many celebs think where ur placed is an indication of ur importance in Hollywood or the industry. I'm sure nowadays Prince would not b so happy 2 b placed in front of Fredrick's Of Hollywood...so...

U have 2 B THERE 2 accept the honor from the mayor of Hollywood...well, that ends it right there, doesn't it?

Prince (being the control freak that he is) won't honor more than half of these rules, so y bother. When he's 60 or 70, maybe he'll reconsider...peeps tend 2 get softer in their old age...we'll just have 2 wait it out.

I don't understand why people associate importance with awards and a star on hollywood blvd as prestige. I have nothing against the topic. But why are stars important? Will they give some authority or some credibility to Prince to the masses that his music hasn't already? I agree with Vagina totally, PRINCE deserves a STAR more than anybody in the industry. But you do have to realize that PRINCE don't care what other people think. If he don't celebrate his own birthday then you know he probably won't be down for a ceremony for a STAR. But again he DESERVES the STAR! and they should give it to him.

I refer u 2 the above 2 responses. It's a tradition in Hollywood 2 honor those who have been around and brought joy 2 millions of people. Prince was honored with an Oscar 4 Purple Rain, did he show up 2 receive it? YES, he did. And, from what I understand, he holds it in high esteem. That was an honor, no? He showed up (and sometimes per4med) at the Grammy Award when nominated, didn't he? So, he's not above receiving "honors" when given...so, ask urself, y does this piss u off so?
